Deco BE63 blocking Google Play downloads & YouTube streams (UI loads perfectly, heavy payloads fail)
Hey everyone,
I recently set up a new TP-Link Deco BE63 (Wi-Fi 7 Pro) on a fiber connection, and I’m running into a bizarre routing/blocking issue specifically with Google services on my Android device (Pixel 9 Pro).
The Symptoms:
- Google Play Store: Browsing the store works perfectly, but app updates and downloads stay stuck on "Pending" or 0%.
- YouTube: Thumbnails, comments, and the UI load instantly, but the video itself just spins infinitely.
If I switch my phone to mobile data, everything immediately downloads and plays.
My Setup:
Router: 2 TP-Link Deco BE63 with wired backhaul, issue happens when using either router
Client Device: Pixel 9 Pro
What I've Already Tried (None of this resolved it):
IPv6: Disabled on the Deco.
DNS: Swapped to Google (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare, as well as reverting to ISP defaults. Disabled "Private DNS" on the Pixel.
Wi-Fi 7 & Mesh Features: Disabled MLO, Fast Roaming, and Beamforming. Disabled "Mesh Technology" for the Pixel specifically in the Deco app to lock it to a single node. Verified the Pixel is on the 5GHz band.
Security: Completely disabled HomeShield (Malicious Content filter, IPS, etc.). No ad-blockers or VPNs running on the phone.
Advanced Routing: Lowered MTU to 1492/1420. Disabled SIP ALG.
Device Settings: Disabled randomized MAC on the Pixel, cleared app caches for YouTube and Play Store.
Topology: Verified IP Passthrough / Bridge mode on the ISP gateway to avoid Double NAT.
Has anyone with a BE63 run into this specific issue with Android/Google services? Are there any hidden hardware offloading, NAT boost, or QoS settings I'm missing?
Never had any problems with my old AX55, maybe upgrading was a mistake.
Any pointers would be hugely appreciated!
