Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 20210511 rel.76452(5553)

I switched from buying Netgear to TP-Link because I increasingly found Netgear routers to be unreliable.  Since switching to TP-Link, I've had no issues right up to the point I installed the latest firmware update via the router's automatic update option.  Now, I find that the 2.4ghz channel just drops for no obvious reason, checking the router status it still looks to be active.

The computers in the house are either hard wired or use the 5ghz wifi and seem to be unaffected, however the smart devices like my doorbell, amazon echo and kasa switches and lights all lose connection.  I did try activating the 'Smart Connect', but then when the issue re-occurred all non-wired connections were lost so I quickly backed that change out.

To try to mitigate this, I have modified the settings to use a specific channel (I chose 11) instead of Auto and to use 20mhz channel width instead of auto.  However, I should not have to try to manually tune the config to get a home network device to work, I should be able to just plug it in, set it up and then forget about it.

Is anybody else experiencing this issue?  Can firmware be rolled back?

Thanks

@OldBrit

Just a quick check, how many devices are on the 2.4G network? Try to modify the wireless security on the router to WPA2-PSK, AES, reboot both the router and smart devices to monitor again.

Its not just 2.4G wifi. It now seems to have a significant stability issue. It seems to restarting maybe a few times a day. I'm finding that Apple OSX devices names are now getting number extensions ie hostname(XX) where this number can be in the hundreds over a few days. Reset the name and off it goes again. This didn't happen before this build.

@zaphod150

Do you mean the router is restarting automatically and both the 2.4G and 5G network will disappear from the available network list on the client devices?

How about the LED status on the router when this issue happens?

Regarding the Apple OSX issue, can we have some screenshots? Rebooting the Apple devices will temporarily solve the issue, and it will happen again? Are there any Onemesh extenders in the network?

@Kevin_Z

There are around 15 smart devices using the 2.4ghz network. I've not had any further drops since changing to band 11 and switching to 20mhz but may be too soon to know if that fixes anything.

The router is not rebooting itself. Prior to me changing the settings it seemed to think the 2.4ghz channel was available but devices disconnected and the SSID was not showing. The 5ghz SSID would continue to be available and connections work.

@Kevin_Z

The log file is attached, a screen shot from about 1 hour after resetting the name. Both Mac's are having the same problem, (both are new M1 based machines). As for the LED's, I haven't noticed. Also note that all server connections to the local NAS get dropped as well.

@OldBrit

Good to know it. Please tag me again if there is still an issue.smiley
