AX50 Slow WiFi Speeds
I recently upgraded my internet service to FTTP (1000 Mbps/50 Mbps), so I decided to upgrade to WiFi 6 at the same time. I have an Ubiquity Edge Router in the garage with ethernet running to living room and the study. In the living room I have a WiFi AP for the mobile devices.
I replaced my existing WiFi AP (WiFi 5) with the AX50 (WiFi 6) and I have one WiFi 6 Client laptop with Intel AX201 WiFi 6 card. The speeds have been disappointing.
My laptop connects to WiFi consistently with a link speed 1201/1201 Mbps which is theoretical WiFi 6 maximum for 80Mhz bandwidth and MIMO x 2. The expected throughput was ~70% of the theoretical speed which is 840 Mbps, but actual throughput is ~450 Mbps.
When I connect my laptop directly to the AP with an ethernet cable I get ~920 Mbps which is expected for my internet service and equipment. I can adjust WiFi manual setting to 160 MHz bandwidth which gives me a link speed closer 2000/2000 Mbps but actual throughput doesn't increase. It appears to me there is some internal limitation with AX50.
I would appreciate any suggestions on my next step.
