Do you have a wireless router or a modem connected to the Range Extender(RE)? An RE can only extend an existing network provided by a wireless router or gateway, and cannot create its own network. If your modem is providing a wireless connection, meaning operating as both a router and modem, the device is technically called a gateway.

Otherwise, make sure that you are connecting your device to the Range Extender's network when prompted in the configuration process.
