The Switch appears to default to 192.168.0.1 if it cannot obtain an address from the DHCP server AKA your router if it is set to be such within your routers settings.

Depending on your network subnet if you're set to a 192.168.1.1/24, 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16-31/16 this will be outside of your visibility. You will have to reconfigure your router to be on the same subnet as the switch. Subnetting calculator may assist with this, you can change your subnet mask and other DHCP settings to bring the default IP of 192.168.0.1 into scope despite outtages.

Subnetting calculators are a good resource to figure this addressing out, but for a quick answer if you change your subnet mask from /24 to a /23 it will expand the usable host range so 192.168.0.1 can be seen even if your default gateway is 192.168.1.1.

Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

Switch Factory Reset without IP obtained by DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1

Usable Host Range: 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.1.254

Hi @drewpeanuts,

Welcome to the community.

The TL-SG108 is an unmanaged switch, so it will not obtain an IP address because it exists on the OSI Model's datalink layer.

Are you having issues with IP addressing on an Easy Smart or Managed TP-Link Switch? If so, which model(s)?
