HS220 slow coming on
Is there a way to make the HS220 turn on faster when physically pressing the switch? Currently it takes about 2 seconds to start turning on, plus the fade time. I set it to instant on in my app, which doesn't seem to affect anything, as it still fades on and has the additional delay before that.
This is a safety issue, because a light switch needs to turn on instantly when pressed, period. They figured this out in, what, the late 1800s? So why is this switch so slow to turn on? This is the case with both of my dimmer HS220s. My regular non-dimming Kasa switches seem to turn on instantly.
If there is no way to fix this, I think these should be recalled because, again, it's a safety issue. If there is an emergency, nobody has time to play around with the switch to figure out how to get it on. Also, in the dark, elderly (and really anyone) are more likely to trip on things because the light didn't come on as expected.
Also, I'd like for TP-Link to provide an explaination as to why the switch was designed this way and why people's safety is less important than...wait, why doesn't it just turn on, for gods sake?

Just installed a HS220 and was annoyed by the delay. A google search landed me here. I've installed the beta firmware and agree that the delay is much reduced. However, it's still not as quick as the HS200. It would be nice if it could be. Regardless, I hope to see this or a better fix in an official firmware update soon. Thanks!

It's been nearly six months since the v2 beta came out. How long could it possibly take to test and release this update? Please hurry up already

@Solla-topee I successfully installed the beta software update for HS220 v1 for two switches in March 2022. I just connected another HS220 v1 and ran the upgrade tool and received an Upgrade Fail message. The upgrade tool shows Build 200214 Rel.152651 for the new switch and the two that were upgraded in March show Build 220225 Rel.170240. What do I need to do to get the new switch updated to the beta software?

Hello @mmcd75
Thank you for the further feedback. I will need to double-check with our team if the HS220 V1 the latest software has embedded this improvement/fix.
If beta update failed you could try some basic troubleshooting, like temporarily turning Windows firewall or antivirus software off, make sure PC is connected to Tp-Link Smart Switch SSID and could ping IP address 192.168.0.100.Here is How to Use the Ping Command.

Any updates here? Even though I set the double tap to None, and Fade On speed to Instant, single tap instant on is still slower than double tap instant.
This is with both Hardware Version 2.0 and 3.0. Both take about 1 s to turn on or off

Installed the beta firmware and while instant on is better, there is still a small delay as I can see the brightness LED indicators on the switch turn on about 1/4 second before the lights actually turn on. These should be simultaneous.
Also, a much needed fix if anyone from TP-Link is reading this: the lower the brightness is set to, the longer it takes for the lights to come on. Not sure why this is but anything under 50% and there is a full second or more delay until the lights turn on. At my lowest brightness setting, it takes a full 3 seconds for the lights to turn on.

I have a v3 version with the same annoying delay...I've disable long press and double tap, still slow to turn on
Any beta firmware for v3?
Same. I have a version 3.8 (shows 3.8 on the box but 3.0 on the app??) and there's a delay. Have you found any beta firmware yet?
