KS230: blinking red, correctly wired
I purchased a KS230 kit and wired it according to the instructions (photos attached). When I turn the power back on, the main blinks red that the travelers are reversed. But, you can clearly see this is not the case. I've tried using the restart and reset buttons. Nothing works. The lights do not come on at all.
Any suggestions?

Hello everyone,
KS230 has Electrical-Wiring-Checking mechanism since 1.0.12 firmware to protect the switch from being damaged by incorrect wiring.
Main KS230 Blinking Red rapidly indicates there could be something wrong with the wiring in the wall box, you could try some suggestions here.
1. Identify the Line/ Load/ Traveler wires in the wall boxes, as set up video/APP instructions (picture below)
Three-way Dimmer Switch Installation Video
Note: you may reach an electrician to identify wires in the house if you are uncertain about the wiring.
2. Try to swap the traveler wires TR& TR2 on Satellite KS230 (picture below)
FYI: If Satellite KS230 has no power at all, please refer to this thread : KS230 3 Way Dimmer Secondary Switch not working
3. [Fix * Windows PC required] KS230 Main Flashing Red Satellite has No Power, both main and satellite can not control the light:
Beta Firmware 1.0.14 : https://static.tp-link.com/upload/beta/2022/202202/20220210/fwUpgradeGUI.zip
The firmware 1.0.14 and later firmware version has fixed this issue, Please update the firmware for KS230 1.0.14 and above version
Beta Note : for phenomena KS230 main flashing Red, satellite has NO power, the load lamp is always off, and the physical ON/OFF and dimming buttons of Main and Satellite cannot control the load light.
note:1) please do Not update the beta if phenomena is different , move forward to the bottom of this post and reach the support directly 2) Please review Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before try this beta firmware
1. Please connect a Windows PC to the same network with the device.
2. You could download the beta firmware update tool via the following link:
3 Check the upgrade instruction in the same link before you upgrade the firmware.
4.Scan again with IOT tool after upgrading the firmware to check whether the current firmware version is 1.0.14 or not.
5.Use the Restart button to restart the switch and check whether the same problem still exists.
Note:If the computer is connected to the same network and KS230 is not scanned by IOT Tool, please try to factory reset main KS230 by hit ' reset ' button (not reboot button) for more than 10 secs, check if switch is brodcasting 'TP-Link Smart Switch XX' default SSID ?
If smart switch still broadcast 'TP-Link smart switchXX ' default SSID ,please connect your PC to this wifi and continue to use IOT tool to upgrade the firmware.
If the concern persists, please email to support.forum@tp-link.com with title [Forum ID 528900 + Model + Description ] with below case details, we will have a specialist to look into the issue further. Please also help provide the following information in the email:
1. the photo of wiring of KS230KIT (note the Main and Satellite switch)
2. the photo of wiring of Old- 3 way Kit if you kept any of that
3. the LED status on KS230KIT (Wi-Fi Led on the main KS230 , Ring or White circle Led on main & satellite KS230 )
Thank you

After a lot of emails back and forth with TPLINK, we concluded that the units were bad and I should return and get new ones.
I reordered from amazon and TA-DA! The new units worked the first time I connected them.
All this stuff is made as cheaply and as fast as possible. SO, you are going to get some bad units here and there. Of the other 41 switches I installed, no others had issues.

@Solla-topee same problem here. Started after a storm. I have five switches doing it in total. Three are three way switches. So 7 TP Link smart switches with the same problem. The light blinks red, no lights working... everything was working fine for months before last night. If I restart them they try to connect to Wi-Fi for less than half a second and then they go back to blinking red rapidly.
