KS230 Blinks red after firmware update (not working anymore)
Just updated the KS230, wifi keeps blinking red. Still shows connected to Wifi but both switches don't work anymore... lights will not turn on
put back the old 3 way dimmer and works fine
I tried resetting to factory but still blinks red. All other switches at home are Ok
Any idea?

Hello everyone,
1. If KS230 Flashing Red after first installation, refer to topic here KS230: blinking red, correctly wired
2. If KS230 Flashing Red after 1.0.12 firmware update:
Case 1: If KS230 could still control light manually
- Try a factory reset on switch by pressing the 'reset' button (the button on the left button, not the Reboot button) on main KS230 for 10 secs, check if switch broadcasts 'TP-Link_Smart_Switch_XX' SSID or if Led will flash amber and green. If so, try to set up switch in Kasa app again.
If installation failed in Kasa step, try to troubleshoot as this FAQ: What should I do if I fail to configure the Kasa device?
Case2: KS230 can Not manually control the light & KS230 appears ' Online' on Kasa APP / KS230 still gets an IP address
- Check if device appears 'Online' or looks usual on Kasa app (kasa app can't control switch)
- Check router (DHCP ) client list and see if KS230 is still getting an IP address
- If KS230 has an IP or appears ' Online‘ on Kasa App, refer to Guide here to downgrade firmware
1. connect a Windows PC to the same network with the device. (So far Windows computer required* )
2 . Downgrade the firmware :download beta firmware update tool and refer instructions in the same link to downgrade

I can confirm I am having the same exact issue. Looks like a firmware update last night and then a blinking red main switch all day today. Neither the main or remote switch have any effect on the lights when pressed.
I've tried the factory reset and restart procedures multiple times. I went a step further and turned the breaker off to remove power altogether. When I turn the breaker back on, I see the lights come on for a split second and then turn off right away. During this split second, the wifi indicator light on the switch goes from orange to green once and then back to blinking red.
Still no lights whatsoever. As best as I can tell, the firmware update took my KS230 switched out.

I did the downgrade back to 1.0.10 and everything is fine
When I tried updating again to new firmware 1.0.12, it says that red blink means that Traveler 1 and 2 are not ok, but mine do are.
You should get the downgrade, did fix everything for me

Thanks for the reassurance on that. Glad to hear you're back up. I did email support at the address they provided you on their response to your original post. Hopefully, the downgrade comes through soon!

Having the exact same issue with KS230 KIT. Please let me know how to downgrade. Cannot control lights manually anymore, blinking red constantly after restarts and reset.

Can I ask how you did the firmware downgrade? I also sent a response to the support email, but these lights are in my kitchen so I really need them working!

Thank you very much, the downgrade has fixed my devices.
I am now on 1.0.10 and all is functional.
It's funny however, that half of the devices I own work on 1.0.12 and the other half broke, the ones that broke I've returned to 1.0.10 to make functional.
Will Kasa be releasing a future firmware version that corrects this problem, or is it best if I return the broken ones since they don't work on the new firmware?
