You can connect your Alexa app and Alexa-enabled devices, like Echo Show and Fire TV, to your Tapo camera and video doorbell to:
- Get a Live View: View a live feed from your camera or video doorbell on the Alexa app and Alexa devices with a screen display.
- Make Announcements: Receive announcements when your camera or video doorbell detects motion or a person.
- Two-Way Communication: Speak to your visitors using the Alexa app or Alexa devices with a screen display.
Please note that the "Speak to your visitors" and “View camera/video doorbell live feed on Alexa app” features are currently supported on certain Tapo camera/Video Doorbell models. It’s suggested to refer to the software release of your specific model or the settings on your Alexa app for accurate information.
For example, you will see the notice “Tapo-Live view unavailable in Alex app” under your camera name on the Alexa app>Devices>Cameras page if your camera model does not support these features.

Usage Scenario 1: Speak to visitors using Alexa-enabled devices with a screen display, like Echo Show, Fire TV, etc.
Case 1: When someone presses the doorbell camera
- The doorbell's live video feed will automatically appear on Alexa-enabled device
- Tap the MIC icon on the screen to begin the two-way conversation
Note: In this usage scenario, make sure the Doorbell Press Notifications feature is enabled on the Alexa app>Doorbell’s settings page.
Case 2: When you receive person detection notifications
- Say "Alexa, talk to [camera name]" to start speaking with the visitor
- Alternatively, say "Alexa, show [camera name]" to watch the camera's live feed, and tap the MIC icon on the screen to begin the two-way conversation.
Usage Scenario 2: Speak to visitors using the Alexa app
- When the doorbell is pressed or the camera detects a person
- Open the Alexa app and go to the Devices > Cameras page
- Tap on the doorbell/camera to enter its live view page
