Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 20230603 rel.46473(4555)

Can 1 put a second or 3rd AX55 in my WIRED network, put it in bridge mode ( as now my different AP's from different brands ) and than turn on Onemesh ?

Or is Onemesh always wireless in the backbone ?  ( why ?? wired is faster and more reliable )

tnx

Hi, one correction for @Dooooo 's reply. Actually not all TP-Link EasyMesh routers support Ethernet Backhaul, for example, Archer AX55 supports EasyMesh but doesn't support Ethernet Backhaul yet. For the models that have already supported it, please refer to this thread:

EasyMesh Routers Support Building a EasyMesh Network via Ethernet Backhaul NOW

You could either use wireless backhaul to build the EasyMesh network, here is the guide:

Or use the second AX55 as AP mode without mesh, here is the guide(Case 1):

  @PeterBee

I am not sure what you mean by bridge mode. It seems that there are only two modes: Router mode and AP mode. And I suppose you are saying the AP mode.

Do you wanna put a cable between AX55 and the existing network and make a mesh network consisting of AX55 and the existing APs?

BTW, OneMesh is a private mesh protocol of TP. The EasyMesh is a protocol supported by many bands and supported by AX55. You can turn on EasyMesh on the existing APs and AX55 to make a mesh network. Wired backbone is OK.

  @PeterBee  want a backbone per se on lan, so using exsisting AX55 as router.  Exsisting AP's don't support Mesh, so therefor bougth an adittional 2 AX55 ( because i'm  happy with how well they work and have a reliable Wifi signal and coverage ) and will use them with Easymesh .  ( have to see if disabling DHCP is still nessesary, or putting it in Easymesh takes care of everything )

Onemesh only works is a wireless mode, therefor ( even with 3 AX55's ) Easymesh ....

tnx

  @PeterBee no

according to TP-Link :

Als u de laatste firmware gebruikt, dan ondersteunt deze router AX55 EasyMesh, en dat is wel bedraad te koppelen.

We hebben hier ook een f.a.q. voor op de website staan :

Hi, the FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/nl/support/faq/3731/ is a configuration guide of EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul, but AX55 V1 doesn't support Ethernet Backhaul yet, thus it will not work.

Since you've already had two AX55 V1 routers, you could also have a try. Please note that if the two routers are linked via WiFi backhaul and then you connect them via Ethernet cable, there will be a network loop resulting in network issues, in that case, please remove Ethernet cable between them to get them working again.

Supporting EasyMesh doesn't mean Ethernet Backhaul is also supported. TP-Link will need to release new firmware to support Ethernet Backhaul.

  @PeterBee

To use EasyMesh among your AX55 routers, the other 2 routers could only connect wirelessly to the main router since Ethernet Backhaul is not supported yet.

Or you could also use the other 2 routers as AP mode and connect them to main router via Ethernet cable, please note that EasyMesh will not work this way.
