Official Wi-Fi Routers Support WireGuard VPN Now
VPNs have grown a great deal over the past few years, and as a result, we have seen an increase in demand for alternative VPN options on TP-Link routers. WireGuard VPN could be one of the most popular VPNs that we are seeing in the public community and forums. We are excited to announce here that we do have some router models that support or plan to support WireGuard VPN feature, and there will be more in the near future.

1. You will need to perform a firmware upgrade on your router when the official firmware is released.

For other models that are not listed above, there is currently no definitive information if WireGuard VPN would be possible or be available in the future, and we don't have any specific details that I can share around. It's suggested to keep an eye on the official website or on the router web GUI/Tether app for any new updates.

May i simply conclude that the AX11000 has reached EOL?
It has received 3 FW updates since it hit the shelves.
first one on 2021-08-19
a year later on 2022-12-27 and the last one on 2023-09-25.
What a shameless way of support.
The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 supports wireguard client and server already.

This has been a bit frustrating. I purchased an AX5400 off of amazon mainly because this page suggested it was supported, but it seems that this is not the case. Support tickets seem to imply that I might just have to wait for a beta release?
I primarily wanted:
a) to not use openVPN - it's less performant and seems more vulnerable
b) not have to roll my own wg service
I can set up wireguard separately, but the primary reason I bought this was for simple config. I'm reading some suggestions for Microtik that look very promising.

Is the router model Archer AX72 Pro or AX5400 Pro? As you may see from the device list, AX72 Pro does not yet support WireGuard VPN and it's still planned. AX5400 Pro does support WireGuard VPN already, you may check the firmware release notes on the local website:

@Kevin_Z Please add Wireguard for support Archer AXE300 - AXE16000 Quad-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router. 10GB/s routers are the new black. They should have came with wireguard!
