Before the Upgrade
(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the pre-release firmware!
(2) For the sake of insurance, it's always recommended to save a copy of the router Backup Config file before upgrading or downgrading.
(3) You may follow the guide to upgrade the firmware of your router. How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers.
(4) This pre-release firmware for Archer BE800 V1 can be applied to all versions (EU/US/JP/TW/etc.).
(5) This version of software can be degraded to the previous version.
(6) To use the new 3-band MLO connection, both the router and client device must support Wi-Fi 7 and 3-band MLO. Please note that most Wi-Fi 7 smartphones and network adapters may only support 2.4GHz + 5GHz or 2.4GHz + 6GHz when connecting to the MLO Network.

i CANNOT access the usb-drive via smb with the be800 and with my windows 10 pc, i get networkerror 1208 after entering the credentials.
with the SAME window 10 pc accessing usb storage via usb works just fine on a different older wifi router (fritzbox 7490).
BUT i can access the usb storage with "some" other devices and software on be800 via smb.
for example: with meta quest 3 with skybox player I CAN access usb-storage via smb.
pico 4 with moonplayer CANNOT acces usb-storage via smb on be800 but with 4xvr player, pico 4 CAN access usb storage on be800.
summary:
plattform | usb storage access via smb: TP-Link BE800 | usb storage access via smb: Fritzbox 7490 | |
---|---|---|---|
windows 10 | no | yes | |
meta quest 3 (skyboxvr player) | yes | yes | |
pico 4 (moon video player) | no | yes | |
pico 4 (x4vr video player) | yes | yes |
so it is all over the place, sometime it works on BE800 sometimes not but ALL my devices can access the usb-storage via smb from my other older wifi router (Fritzbox 7490). izt looks like that the fritzbox does something more compatible with accessing usb storage via smb.
here is my smbclientconfiguration from the windows 10 pc (firewall has been turned off).
in eventvwr i get infos, that the smbserver does not support multichannel (probably not important) and an error in security:
translated:
Explanation: This error indicates that SMB messages are being modified as they travel across the network from server to client. This could be due to session termination on the server, a problem with the network, a problem with a third-party SMB server, or a man-in-the-middle attack attempt.
please keep in mind: i did not made a test if a "non-beta firmware" works better for accessing the usb-storage via smb and windows 10 but this beta will be the stable firmware in the future, right? so it should be fixed anyway....

What kind of USB device you're attaching to the BE800, how about its capacity and format type?
Is the Windows 10 PC connected to the BE800 via LAN cable or wireless? Can you try to access the USB drive via smb on another computer?

hi kevin,
here are your asked information:
sandisk extreme, formated with exfat. pc is hooked up to lan with patch-cable.
BUT this all does not matter, i was able to solve it:
i have changed the security policy via gpedit.msc for lan mangager authentification to ONLY reply to NTLMv2
now, it is working fine on be800 too like on my old fritzbox7490. you probably should apply a compability mode the accepts requests/reponses for non NTLMv2 security via optional checkbox.
my windows 10 pc will NOW be able to access the storage on BE800 my pico 4 with moon vr player will not...
general critism, not completly related to the found resolution:
compability out of the box is important! an in case of smb sharing, there should be more transparency.
for me, coming from an asus gt-axe11000 (that is advertised as a "gaming router"), it is bit disapointing how much less you can configure in general and how intransparent tp-link gui is. the gui does not really do a good job in informing the user about the requirements, it is too intransparent, imho. for example other wifi routers show, which smb-protocol is supported, down to the insecure smb-v1, with an extra check-box, the tp-link gui shows nothing (and how hard is it, to add an html label for a bit additonal information?)! the log was pretty useless, it didn't even show that there was an unsuccessful attempt to access the usb-storage ...

After I update to the version 1.1.99 Build 20241126 rel.18304(4341), there is a chance that the Web UI is not fully loaded.
The Network Map does not show any clients and mesh devices. Both Mesh and Clients sections are empty. Device priority and device isolation list are empty too. I have tried to re-sign in, and wait for 10 minutes to refresh the page. The internet connections work as normal to all my deivices. No connection issues.
Tether app will show clients, easymesh devices, and device priority. However, device isolation list is empty in Tether app.
The only way I can fix this is rebooting the router. After rebooting, the router will load everything properly. I have tried to reboot 4 time. The issue occurs 2 times to me.
QoS section (Device Priority) is also empty too. I used to add some devices in the priority list.
Most importantly, Device isolation is not loaded properly. The Isolated devices list is empty.

I had similar problems until i have cleared and cleaned the browsers cache.
Even after clearing browser cache there is like between 1 to 3 seconds delay till details are displayed in the UI.
It does not bother me and i believe the next build will bring UI optimizations.

Thank you very much for the detailed information.
I remember you're connecting a BE550 to the BE800 via EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul, could you please confirm how many EasyMesh devices are connected to the network (excluding the BE800)? What are they?
Also, are you using the USB sharing feature on the BE800? Is there a USB drive or HDD plugged into its USB port?

There are one main router (BE800) and 3 easymesh satellites in my network via EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul. The other two are old wifi 6 routers (Arcadyan Boost 2.0). The olde routers work superisely well with BE800. No any disconnection. I will replace them with wifi 6e or 7 extenders later if both BE800 and BE550 settle down well n my network.
No I am not usring or share any USB drive or HDD.

Got it.
Could you remove the two old Wi-Fi 6 routers (Arcadyan Boost 2.0) from the BE800 network and leave only the BE550 to see if the web UI displays properly? I understand this may be inconvenient, but we want to determine if the issue is caused by multiple EasyMesh nodes.
If that is not convenient, that's fine. We've passed your feedback to the relevant team, and they will try to figure it out.
If they need more details, they may contact you via your registered email. Thank you.

I disconnected two old routers. I restarted 4 times. The Web UI was fully loaded every time. It looks the multiple EasyMesh routers cause the issue.
I also found that once I conneected either of the old routers back into the mesh network, all my Iot devices would incorrectly turn into wired clients under the older router in both WEB UI and Tether. In reality, only the main router BE800 boradcasts the IOT ssid, and all the iots are wirelessly connected to the IOT ssid only. Both old routers are set as agent mode in the settings.

@JFDSD Thank you very much for the tests. We will soon investigate this further.

Could you please confirm the sentence in yellow? It seems the old wifi 6 routers are not from TP-Link and I assume they are not manageable by the TP-Link web UI or through the Tether App. Or you're talking about the web UI and Tether app when logging into the BE800?
