  @ClaudioLR yeah it's clear that the label on the box is false advertising.  I think I'll just charge back my C216 purchase with my credit card at this point, promised but not working for 6 months is class action territory

  @tickl

It's sad really, cause you get the sense they don't give a rats ass about its customers. Maybe they just care about the apple ecosystem, who knows. A three dollar camera from Aliexpress about the size of my pinky works flawlessly with Google home, albeit the picture quality isn't as good as tapo, but hell, at least it works. Tapo just hasn't felt it in their pockets yet so why put in the work to fix it just for some customers that make little difference to them? Money's all that matters to these companies at the end of the day.

  @TheRealEverton

It still works with the older version of Google Home app (version 3.20.1.8). Probably Google changed something in the API for the newer versions and it stopped working. Tapo is waiting Google to fix it but I think they should comply with this change. Google won't do it for them.

  @Revolver No worries, that’s a super old version. I’m on 4.3.56, and I think the one you mentioned is almost a year old by now. Anyway, thanks for the info! I’m sure it’s exactly as you described. But I have to ask: is it possible that in all these months TAPO hasn't pushed Google to fix this or taken any initiative? Because at this rate, I think it's safe to say they’re never going to fix it

Re:Why can't you access the camera's live feed on the Google Home App?
Yesterday

  @Solla-topee In addition to this issue, if i turn on 'voice notifications' in the Google Home app, my google homes now say 'doorbell rang is at the front door' and also notifies me of any motion, person, pet, parcel that it detects. Even if I turn off all motion detection in the tapo app, all the google home's still say if it detects anything which is very annoying. How do I just tell it to notify me when the doorbell is pressed and how do I change what it says on the google home's because 'doorbell rang is at the front door' makes no sense.

  @SuperLukeyLuke

Hi,
If you turn off the "Voice Notification" feature in the Google Home app for your doorbell camera, will the camera still notify you when events are detected? You can also turn off Detection types in the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Detection page for a try after disabling the "Voice Notification" option.
Please go to the Google Home App > Automation page to see if there is an entry set to announce 'doorbell rang is at the front door' when someone presses the doorbell. If so, you can change the announcement content in the entry.
Best Regards

Re:Why can't you access the camera's live feed on the Google Home App?

Hi, sorry let me explain what I mean. I want the 'voice notification' to be on in the Google Home app so when someone presses the doorbell, I want the Google devices to tell me there is someone at the door. However when I turn 'voice notification' on in the Google Home app, the Google devices tell me when there is motion, a person detected, parcel detected, vehicle etc. I only want it to tell me if someone presses the doorbell. Even if I turn off all of the detection types in the tapo app, the Google devices still tell me when there is motion, or person etc. which is silly. So it's either have 'voice notifications' on in the Google Home app and the Google devices will constantly be telling me about motion or people etc. or I have 'voice notifications' in the Google Home app turned off in which case I do not know if someone has pressed the doorbell. I have checked automations and there are no automations. It seems the Google integration with Tapo is far from complete and I am having a very bad experience. I changed from a Google doorbell to Tapo because i didn't want to pay the subscription to Google for the 24/7 recording and the D130 looked like an ideal solution. But now I will lose the ability to view the doorbell in the Google Home app, I can't get voice notifications on the google devices because it will constantly tell me about all movements. In addition when I try to view the doorbell of a Google display, it shows, but then only lasts around 10 minutes before it says 'camera is unreachable' and I need to reset. Overall I am very disappointed that it shows compatible with Google on the box, but doesn't actually do anything with Google correctly so I will be returning the doorbell
