Model: Tapo C110
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.14

I just bought this camera yesterday. Camera was perfect, no issues, connected online. I then performed the "update" and it has basically made the camera useless. It now says "This smart device can only be controlled locally".

I have tweaked all my router settings, firewall off, DNS 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1. No parental controls, or any other setting blocking. I have reinstalled the app, factory reset the camera a dozen times trying little alternate solutions/tweaks. I have even connected it to my phones hotspot and it still has the same issue.

What's the solution to this problem? It's obvious that the firmware update is bad or the update failed somehow?

Hi,
You can try the following steps to troubleshoot:

1. Please ensure the Tapo app is up to date.

2. Please confirm if there are any special characters in the password of the TP-Link account. If so, try to change the password and check if it helps.

3. If the problem remains, please refer to the following instructions to collect the camera log for further analysis.
