Tapo Camera Laggy while viewing on Cellular/Mobile Data
Hi everyone,
I recently bought the Tapo C520WS (v2.8 hardware, IN region) and noticed something strange. When I’m at home on the same Wi-Fi network, the live view works totally fine—smooth video and no delays. But as soon as I switch to mobile data (outside the house), the live feed becomes super laggy. It basically updates frame by frame, and sometimes the audio doesn’t work properly either.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Firmware is up to date (v1.1.1)
RSSI stays around -65, which seems decent
I’ve set a static IP with 8.8.8.8 as DNS
RTSP is off, and the issue happens only on the Tapo app when using mobile data
On local Wi-Fi, it’s smooth, so clearly the camera itself isn’t struggling
I also checked my router (Nokia G-2425G-A) and set QoS for the camera’s MAC address. Didn't really make a difference for this issue.
Just wanted to check—has anyone else seen this kind of behavior? Is this something TP-Link is working on fixing? Would really appreciate a fix because otherwise the camera works well.
