C501GW - Default position drift issue when motion tracking is enabled
Tuesday
Model: Tapo C501GW
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 250902 Rel 42741n

I have 3 C501GW cameras installed using the overhang mount option (they are under a roof eave attached to soffit)

Motion tracking is enabled and under the PAN and Tilt settings and I have Viewpoint 1 set as the main position of the camera.

I have found that over time, after about 10-20 motion tracking events, when the camera returns to its 'home' position there is drift in the position.  The default position is 1-2 degrees different to the original location.   So over time, this drift adds up and the default position is now different enough to be a problem as the detection areas are out of alignment.

It mostly has a vertical alignment issue. The drift sees it moving downward.

I then manually adjust it and re-save the Viewpoint 1.

Is this a known issue and any fix or workaround that can be done? I dont what to have to reset the default position so often.

Hi,
You can check whether rebooting the camera or tapping the Pan & Tilt Correction feature on the camera's Device Settings > Pan & Tilt page will correct the camera's position.

Please provide the following information for further analysis.
  1. Do you have the same phenomenon on all three Tapo C501GW? When did you purchase the camera, and when did the reported phenomenon begin?
  2. How many events will be tracked in a day?

Best Regards

Hi

I have run the correction in the app and I will monitor how it goes over the next day or two.

I only run tracking on 1 camera but I will try it on the others too

I got the camera in Decemember and I've had the issue since I installed it. It tracks 5-20 events per day

Hi,
Thank you for your attempt. Please feel free to reply to us if there are any updates.

If rebooting the camera corrects its position, you can enable the Auto Reboot feature on the camera's Device Settings > Reboot Camera page to see if that helps.

Best Regards
