v302 kasa app no scenes work

gplay updated my kasa to v302 across all my handsets
none of my scenes work. error says "condition does not exist"
alexa and google home also fail to trigger scenes
same behaviour for existing and newly created scenes
help!
all devices. all handsets. all networks. no issues with v2.3xxx
