Model: Tapo C425
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.18

My Tapo camera c425 does not recognize anything if the camera stays a few hours in stand by.

This happens both day and night but most in night.

But if I open the app the camera send notification.

This is serious bug because I am losing many events.

The settings for this camera is poor

I have the latest firmware but there is no fix.

Many users have reported this problem but no solution.

  @Vagg

Hi,
You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if the detection feature on the camera is not working fine.
Detection Is Not Working On TP-Link Camera

Please confirm the following information if the problem remains.
1. The results of the above steps.
2. Send me a picture of the camera's Detection page and Wake-up Sensitivity page.

Best Regards

  @Vagg

Hi,
From your problem description, the problem seems that the PIR sensor of the camera cannot detect the infrared radiation changes caused by motion, and thus the camera will not wake up after it stays a few hours on standby. This problem is related to the installation position of the camera and the specific motion, you can help confirm the following information for further analysis.

1. Please log in to the camera's Live View page and send me a screenshot of it, then go to the Device Settings>Battery Status page, find the Wake-up Times section, and send me a picture of it.

2. You can refer to the UG to see the Mounting Tips of the camera, please ensure the camera:

  • Tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 15°
  • Avoid placing behind glass. Glass will obstruct the motion sensor of your camera

3. When the camera stays in the standby state, whether it won't be woken up even if you walk in front of the camera and go across the lens' field of view?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee Hi, I have already checked all steps before I create this post. But the problem remains.

I attach the screenshots.

I can not believe that I pass in front camera and I am not gettin any notifications because is not always on stand by. If I open the app, the c425 sends me notifications. I read that many users have the same problem.

  @Vagg

Hi,
I have a question about the reported case that wants to be clarified.
Can the camera detect events, but only when you open the app will you start receiving notifications triggered by previous events? Or can't the camera detect events and only when you open the app to view the camera will it detect events and start sending notifications when events are detected?
Best Regards

Hi,

My Tapo camera c425 does not recognize anything if the camera stays a few hours in stand by.

This happens both day and night but most in night.

But if I open the app the camera send notification.

When I open the app, the camera can send notification for a few hours after but after that the camera stop sending notifications.

I can not find any option to stay active camera. Not recording 24/7 but stay active to send notifications.

I am missing a lot of events.

  @Vagg

Hi,
1. Please turn on the camera's Alarm feature on the Tapo app>Camera's Device Settings>Alarm page, and set the Alarm Type to Sound & Light.

2. When the camera is in a standby state, move across the camera lens rather than directly toward the camera, will the camera alarm?

If not, please log in to the Tapo app, move across the camera lens again, and check if the camera will alarm. Please record the cross-motion manually on the camera's live view page and send it to us for further analysis.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

Hi, I can not do this with one mobile phone.

I describe again my problem. When I am in front of camera with closed app the camera doesn't recognized me if the camera is not stand by.

If I open the app, the camera recognize me as person right. But this is working only for a few hours.

After that the same problem.

if you can't help me or give a update firmware I will return the two c425 cameras.

I have read many users reviews about the same situation and they return the camera.
