Things You May Want to Know
1. What if the SIM card doesn’t work with the Tapo 4G camera?
Ensure the SIM card is a Nano SIM card that supports LTE-TDD/LTE-FDD. And the supported frequency bands are LTE-FDD: B 1/3/5/7/8/20/28 and LTE-TDD: B 38/40/41.
Some SIM cards have a PIN code. Insert the Nano SIM card into your phone to disable the PIN first.
Note: Do not insert the IoT (Internet of Things) or M2M (Machine-to-Machine) SIM cards into your phone. IoT/M2M SIM cards are designed for Internet-connected devices rather than traditional phones. Improper use may lock or deactivate the SIM card by the carrier.
2. Does Tapo C501GW support a 5G SIM card?
If the 5G SIM card is compatible with the following 4G channels: LTE-FDD: B 1/3/5/7/8/20/28 and LTE-TDD: B 38/40/41, it will work.
3. Does the Tapo C501GW support POE power?
Yes. the camera supports the IEEE 802.3af/at PoE protocol. The maximum length for the PoE connection is 100 meters (328 feet).
4. Can I change the antenna of this camera?
Yes, the Tapo C501GW antenna is detachable and uses an SMA interface. You can replace it with an antenna with greater gain to improve the signal according to actual needs.
5. How much data does the camera use?
One hour of live view in 1080p will use about 594 MB of data. Event detection, cloud storage, and firmware upgrades, etc., will consume more data.
Actual data usage depends on camera usage scenarios and may vary from SIM card providers.
