Camera works fine during daylight hours but during hours of darkness, if I attempt to pan or move the camera it goes offline. Any suggestions as to what is happening and what can be done to fix this issue?

  @MKO90 I think it has to do with the third-party extension cable(at least in my exp) for this model, try just using the original power adapter that came with the unit and see if it has the same issue.

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.
  1. Please ensure the camera is powered by the original power adapter and cord.


  2. Does the camera work in the Night mode(The live view page is in black and white color.) when the issue happens? 


  3. During hours of darkness, please go to the camera's Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon and check its RSSI value when the camera is online.


  4. Please ensure the Tapo app is up to date, and send us the Tapo app version if the problem remains.

did you happen to find a fix for this? having the same exact issue. Updated firmware, updated tapo app, confirmed proper ethernet connection, and multiple factory reset yet issue persists, sigh I'm tired of this sh, guess I'll just return the device

Hi, 
Do you have a freeze issue when watching the camera's live feed on the Tapo app, or is your problem the same as the original post?
 

Please ensure you have powered on the camera with the original power adapter and cord. Then, you can try setting a lower video quality on the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display page to see if it helps.

 

If you are willing to continue troubleshooting the issue, please send me a video showing the reported issue. You can upload the video to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

  @Solla-topee experiencing the exact same issue. Viewing live feed is ok though. Generally speaking, cam is ok during the day, but defective at night

Hi,
Have you powered on the camera with the original power adapter and cord that came from the package? If not, please use the original power adapter and cord to power the camera and then check whether it can work normally at night.

  @Solla-topee All good, thank you, perhaps a firmware update in the future may fix the issue, but for now I'm settled on returning the device. As compared to my c520ws, this one is problematic given the same environment

  @Solla-topee I have same issue. Two cameras, one works fine, other not if I toggle to day view - same problem. Wifi rssi -68d

  1. Are the two cameras model number Tapo C530WS with hardware version 2.0? What's the firmware version?
  2. Have you powered them with the original power adapter that comes with the camera in the package?
  3. Does the camera display offline in the Tapo app when you set the Video mode to Day mode on the camera's Live View page?
