I'm hoping to use a Tapo C121 camera in my car to monitor pets for 1-2hours at a time. I want to know if anyone has done this or knows if it will work or not.

The camera will be powered by a USB-C connection to the car or a 10,000 MAh batter pack and connect to the internet using my Verizon Android smartphone as a 2.4GHz mobile hotspot (or a local internet hotspot). I will monitor it from time to time for a few minutes using wife's Verizon Apple phone and the Tapo link . I dont care about recording on constant monitoring.

Hi,
Generally, we recommend using the original power supply to power your camera. Placing the camera in a car and using an alternative power source may compromise the camera's performance and stability, as this is not a typical usage scenario and has not undergone rigorous testing. Additionally, please keep the following points in mind:
  1. The Tapo C121 V1 requires an input voltage of 5V/1A.
  2. The power port on the camera is a Type-C port.
  3. After successfully setting up the camera in your car, you may receive a prompt in the Tapo app asking if you would like to continue viewing the camera's live feed after several minutes when watching it remotely. (Why can't I view the live stream of the Tapo camera continuously?)

Best Regards
