Model: Tapo C510W
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 250919

Recently picked up four C510W cameras, looking forward to cams which connect directly to my WiFi rather than via a dedicated hub.

I'm looking to replace my Yeskamo camera set up - the feature of which I appreciated most was camera spotlight activated when motion detected - after dark.

I presumed the C510W would offer a similar feature since it has a) motion sensor b) integrated spotlight.

To this point I've found it's possible to:

1. turn the light on/off

2. set light to come on via triggering an alarm - BUT THE LIGHT FLASHES ON/OFF

3. spotlight permanently on during night mode using (video & display) Full Color Mode

I've tried, unsuccessfully, to configure through:

. (video & display) Night Mode Settings

. (alarm) Camera Alarm (Type: Light, Duration: 30 Sec) - result is FLASHING

Can anyone advise what settings I need to configure to achieve: spotlight on for, say, 30 seconds, after dark - when motion detected?

Apologies if the above seems a complicated use case - but it's what my existing set up does easily, and there are various benefits I've come to enjoy!

Hi,
The following instructions may help you select the suitable settings. It's recommended to choose the Smart Mode on the Night Mode Settings page.

Thank you for the suggested link. I'm making progress, but would like advice on how to prevent the floodlight being triggered by garden plants swaying in the wind within the field of view. I was hoping turning off 'motion detection' and using 'person detection' only might work - but still unpredictable.

How does 'person detection' differ from 'motion detection'?

  @wiimixer

Hi,
With motion detection turned on, the camera will detect all motion within the motion detection zones.
With person detection turned on, the camera only detects persons within the person detection zones.

To prevent the camera's spotlight from being triggered by garden plants swaying in the wind, disabling motion detection and enabling person detection is a solution. What phenomenon are you experiencing after disabling the motion detection?

Best Regards
