Model: Tapo C210
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.2

Hello,

My Tapo C210 received the version v1.5.2 Yesterday. After the update I am not able to reach it through the TP-Link Smarthome integration of Home assistant.

I got an issue with certificat :

Échec de la configuration, nouvel essai: Impossible de communiquer avec l'appareil connect : ('Device connection error: 192.168.1.61: Cannot connect to host 192.168.1.61:443 ssl:<ssl.SSLContext object at 0x7f65919e50> [[SSL: SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE] ssl/tls alert handshake failure (_ssl.c:1032)]', ClientConnectorSSLError(ConnectionKey(host='192.168.1.61', port=443, is_ssl=True, ssl=<ssl.SSLContext object at 0x7f65919e50>, proxy=None, proxy_auth=None, proxy_headers_hash=None), SSLError(1, '[SSL: SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE] ssl/tls alert handshake failure (_ssl.c:1032)')))

I am not the only one and the issue has been acknowleged by the HA community (see the issue post on github : https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/162498 )

Is it possible to downgrade to make it work again ?

Will it be fixed ?

Thank you for your help.

Joe

Hi,
We do not have the instructions to downgrade the camera's firmware. For the reported case, please go to the Tapo app > Me > Third-Party Services > Third-Party Compatibility page to enable Third-Party Compatibility, then check whether your camera works with Home Assistant. Please note that Home Assistant is an open-source platform and is not officially supported by our camera; we can't guarantee the camera will integrate seamlessly with Home Assistant. You may also contact Home Assistant's support team to see whether they have any other suggestions.

If you want to establish an RTSP/ONVIF connection to the camera in Home Assistant, please follow the instructions below.
How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol

Best Regards

Firmware V1.5.2

I have the same issue this morning, all was working well until the update to V1.5.2: Connection error: ('Device connection error: 192.168.0.41: Cannot connect to host 192.168.0.41:443 ssl:<ssl.SSLContext object at 0x7f4bc904d0> [[SSL: SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE] ssl/tls alert handshake failure (_ssl.c:1081)]', ClientConnectorSSLError(ConnectionKey(host='192.168.0.41', port=443, is_ssl=True, ssl=<ssl.SSLContext object at 0x7f4bc904d0>, proxy=None, proxy_auth=None, proxy_headers_hash=None), SSLError(1, '[SSL: SSLV3_ALERT_HANDSHAKE_FAILURE] ssl/tls alert handshake failure (_ssl.c:1081)')))

Hi,

The issue is still persisting at this time.

Impacted cameras:

  • 1x C310

  • 3x C210

  • 1x C320WS

It seems Tapo has updated their SSL certificates, but the Home Assistant "TP-Link Smart Home" integration has not been updated yet by the community.

More models will likely be impacted soon as the new certificates are being deployed across their more recent device firmware.

Hi,

There is a workaround for Home Assistant, you can use Tapo-Control integration instead.

http://github.com/jurajnyiri/homeassistant-tapo-control

It can replace the faulty Tp Link Slart Home integration
