Hi,

I just introduced a 16 Channel Dahua NVR dhi-nvr2116hs-i to my network.

My ISP provider is starlink, I am using a Deco M5 as router and TP-Link TL-SG108 Unmanaged Switch from the router to the other 2 other satellite devices in a mesh network all of them are connected via Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables. I have 5 Tapo Cameras:

  • 2 x Tapo 320WS
  • 1 x TC70
  • 1 x C500
  • 1 x C510W

As soon as I turn on my NVR all tapo devices start to lag and begin to be unresponsive. The NVR shows the Tapo Cameras decently in LIVE view.

  • Every Camera has its own static IP configured in Deco App
  • NVR has port 80, 443, 554, 37777, 37778 forrwarded
  • UPNP: Enabled
  • Primary and secondary DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

How can i fix this, any suggestions?

Hi,
Please confirm the following information to clarify the problem.

1. Do you mean the cameras are connected to the NVR via RTSP/ONVIF successfully, and you can watch their live feed on the NVR but can't control them via RTSP/ONVIF?

2. Are you able to watch and control the cameras properly on the Tapo app?

3. How do you test if the cameras are lagging and unresponsive?

4. Is the NVR connected to one of the Deco by a cable to go to the internet?

Best Regards

Hi, thank you for the response.

1.- You are right, they are connected via RTSP/ONVIF and I can watch the feed from the NVR while connected to the same network. I can control them via RTSP/ONVIF

2.- No, Tapo devices like Tapo Motion Sensor, Around 10 Tapo L530E, and several tapo cameras are unresponsive when the NVR is on.

3.- Through the Tapo App, like I mentioned in step 2, Tapo devices start to be unresponsive and unreachable. Also automations stop working or have strong delays.

4.- I forgot to mention that there is an unmanaged TP-Link TL-SG108 Switch.

The connection would be like this: Deco M5 Router Mode > Unmanaged Switch > Satellite Decos. All of them are connected via cables Cat5e or Cat 6.

The Tapo Cameras are connected via Wifi.

Additional Note: When the NVR is turned off, all Tapo Devices (Lights, Cameras, Switches) and their automations begin to me reachable and responsive.

Regards

Hi,
1. What's the problem phenomenon of Tapo devices becoming unresponsive and unreachable on the Tapo app when the NVR is on, such as these Tapo devices show the offline status on the Tapo app, can't go to any devices' page, etc.?

2. Please ensure your Deco units, Tapo devices, and the TP-Link apps are up to date, and then check if they will work fine.

3. Is the NVR connected to the unmanaged switch by an ethernet cable?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

1.- In the attached screen you can see that some devices start to disconnect and also the ones that remain connected have delays in seconds to turn on and off or viceversa or wont respond to changes in the state of the device.

2.- The firmware of all decos are 1.7.8 Build 20240719 Rel. 70981

The Tapo App: V: 3.6.501

3.- Yes, the NVR is connected via Ethernet with a Cat5e cable.

When I stop using the NVR then the devices start to be responsive.

Regards
