I have an X75 system with 1 main and 3 slaves. I have a device (garage door opener) that is losing connection to the router even though it has a very strong WiFi signal. THe manufacturer of this device tells me that the channel must be 1,6 or 11 for this device to connect and that the router needs to be set to one of these channels. Using a WiFi analyzer, I can see that the channel is currently channel 2. How can I set the channel?

Hi, nice to see you again.

Normally channel 1.6.11 will be recommended since they are often less crowded but almost all the smart homes are capable of channels 1-11 on 2.4ghz. So I think it is not accurate to see the garage opener has to be on channel 1.6 or 11.

May I know the model number of your garage door opener? is it Chamberlain MyQ?

And If possible, could you please help me run a simple test:

1. enable a guest for 2.4ghz only without a wireless password.

Please check whether the garage door opener is able to maintain a stable connection on the guest network.

Wait for your reply.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

@David-TP It is a Chamberlain MyQ. It is connected most of the time, but occasionally it disconnects (usually when I want to use it). When it disconnects, it reconnects later - sometimes 15 minutes; sometimes an hour or more. Right now it shows disconnected for 55 minutes.

((enable a guest for 2.4ghz only without a wireless password))

It's a real pain to change networks as I have to move cars and get up on a ladder to go thru the arcane process of changing networks on the garage door opener. I will try it though.

Also, The Deco app (on Android) seems to have an issue. Even though I choose the "2.4 GHz Only" band in the "Advanced" section, the Guest Network shows BOTH 2.4GHz and 5Ghz. How do I know if the guest network is set for just the 2.4 GHz band?

@David-TP I changed the wifi to use the guest network with no password and it hasn't disconnected since.

Do you think it's because only the 2.4ghz band is used or because of the lack of security?

Hi, Thanks a lot for the update.

I tend to think it is due to the lack of security since I used to see feedback that MYQ sometimes couldn't connect to a secure WiFi.

But we could run a further test: add a simple password for the 2.4ghz-only guest and check whether it could still maintain a stable connection.

And as for the display issue for the guest network, do you set up Deco XE75 in Access Point now?

I also noticed that even though you are choose 2.4ghz only, there still seemed an option to change the channel width to 5ghz.

@David-TP Here are my guest settings - When set to JUST 2.4 GHz, the "advanced tab" shows 2.4 GHz but the main tab still shows 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz. The "advanced tab" shows the 5 GHz channel width for just 2.4 GHz as well. (I added a PW - I'll let you know how that goes in a few days)

Thanks for the update.

Did the MYQ continue working well with a secure guest network?

I tested on the 3.3.65 Deco Android APP. On the main Menu, it somehow does not display any 2.4ghz or 5ghz. I think it might be also related to adaption to different phone UI.
