Model: Archer AX1500
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.9 Build 20230728 Rel. 45716(5553)

I have two Archer AX1500 v1.0 routers in my home.

One of them is my main router and another one is connected to that main router with a cable and is set up to act as an access point:

59f091c5d1744700b556a9d844948dd2

I have set this AP to use static IP address 192.168.0.111 and I also set up same IP in the main router for this AP to use.

Now I have Adguard Home running on my server connected to the main router and I just checked logs to see that this AP is making random connections to random websites (see the pic below). None of the devices connected to that AP were connecting to those websites, so it has to be the AP itself.

Is that normal behavior? Or maybe I have something misconfigured?

Can someone help me out?

  @THEVAN3D,

The entries are so generic that it is somewhat difficult to tell, but I have seen similar behaviors in the past.

One thing to first consider is that if there were devices connected to the AP, these could have been background refreshes, or even ads that were presented in apps or other web pages, or could even be caused by Parental Controls or the AP checking its internet connection periodically as some routers will do.

You would need to disconnect all devices from the AP to eliminate the possibility of it being one of the connected devices.

  @THEVAN3D

This behavior has been observed before. There are certain websites that TP-Link devices FW use to determine it's on-line status using DNS queries - details.

You can also check this thread for more detail on this behavior.
