  @Antonio253,

Im pretty sure you were tagged in the other thread for this but:

I just received this from our engineers that may help fix the behavior

First. Did the problem happen after Kasa App upgraded to Kasa3.0?

Step 1 : If you have an iOS device like iPhone or iPad, please set up the smart device with the iOS device for a try.

Step 2 :  If you have no iOS device ,please try with the Kasa beta App below that may help with your case.

Here is the download link for the Kasa Beta APP: (Uninstall Previous Kasa App First)

https://static.tp-link.com/upload/beta/2022/202210/20221027/kasa_2.39.0(1074)_beta.apk.zip

NOTE:

1.The link sends a zip version of the software, you may need to download an extractor on your phone to extract the file first before installing the app(apk file).

2. Please uninstall the previous Kasa App 3.0 before install the beta Kasa App,then check if you could set up the KL430 successfully.

Let us know if this doesn't fix the device disconnects

  @Riley_S This has nothing to do we the app which I suspected as well. See response from @Paul_Michael in https://community.tp-link.com/us/smart-home/forum/topic/551016?replyId=1147734. Have the engineers look into the firmware for the devices or which api response is causing this.

  @Antonio253,

When our engineering team provides our team with a beta app to provide for our users, it is not always a fix; oftentimes, the update adds debugging functionality so that the engineering team is given more information about the device and will report to the engineers what the problem may be. The Kasa app is our main avenue for debugging, collecting information, and updating devices. In some situations, workarounds will be added to the app until the device is either updated or the bug is fixed.

Even though a beta app update seems useless for troubleshooting, it gives our development team valuable information.  The devs have already been passed the information, and are looking into it.

On another note, unfortunately, we can't provide support for any methods of controlling the devices that are outside of the 'design' of the device, such as controlling the device locally through Home Assistant or using python to mimic the Kasa API, as the team cannot guarantee that the device will not be harmed or altered through normal operation. As Kasa and Tapo begin to embrace the Matter Protocol and Device-Device Control, this may change as Smart Homes Devices will then be meant to be controlled via different methods. Home Assistant is just ahead of its time.
