Model: Kasa HS220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Can an HS220 go bad?  Lights just stopped working one day.  I had one left from the 3 pack I bought and replaced it and the light started working again.

All the lights on the switch worked and showed that the light should be on at 100% brightness.

I have a lot of KASA light switches in the house and really don't want them to just start going bad one by one.

Hey @tward1,

It is defintely possible for it to burn out or start failing, however this is usually waaay down the line and normally only happens when you are using a switch near its operating capacity all the time. Since it was at 100%, I would check to see how much power your lights and fixtures are consuming, and potentially usign the device at a lower percentage if you are near the capacity.

For the previous switch, did you try to factory reset the switch? It sounds more as though the device may have had an error and failed, which may have been cleared with a factory reset or update.
