Hi,
We have internally tested the Speed Limit feature on Deco X50_1.8.2, and it works correctly. Regarding your feedback that the Speed Limit feature is not working, please provide more detailed information so we can further analyze the issue.

  1. What are the maximum download and upload speeds you have set for your phone?
  2. On your phone, please test the speed at www.speedtest.net, and then provide a screenshot of the test result. Please ensure that mobile data is disabled during the speed test.
  3. Please confirm that the random MAC address function is disabled on your phone. If not, please disable this function to ensure that the speed limit function works for your phone.
  4. How many Deco nodes do you have? Are they all Deco X50_1.8.2? Please describe your network topology.

Best Regards

Hi,
The Speed Limit feature is used to limit the download and upload speed for the device connected to the Deco. Usually, no matter which platform or apps you use on your phone after configuring the Speed Limit feature, the speed won't exceed the limited speed.

Beta Feedback: Deco X50 PPPoE len < 0 bug is still active (Breaks Apple Push Notifications)
Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version:  V1.30 (US)
Firmware Version: [V1.3_1.8.2]

I recently installed the new Beta firmware for the Deco X50 hoping it would resolve an ongoing PPPoE packet parsing bug (existed in previous firmware version), but the issue remains completely unresolved in this new build.
The router's netifd / pppd backend is still trapped in a continuous loop, flooding the syslog every 10 seconds with these exact errors:
```text
daemon.notice pppd[2391]: len < 0
daemon.notice netifd: internet (2391): len < 0
```
The Cause & Impact:
This bug appears to be triggered by the router's 10-second LCP Echo heartbeat ("lcp-echo-interval", "10"). The firmware is miscalculating the packet length of the ISP's reply.
Every time this len < 0 error triggers, it silently stalls or drops long-lived background TCP connections. Because of this, Apple’s Push Notification Service (APNS) on TCP Port 5223 continuously breaks. All iOS devices connected to the Deco network experience severely delayed or completely dropped background push notifications.

Could the engineering team please investigate the PPPoE / LCP Echo parsing code (netifd) for the next beta release? I can provide full syslogs if needed.

Note: I have 2 months warranty left on this device.  I am going to claim a replacement from the shop. If you need log of this beta firmware installed on this device please let me know, i also have the log from previous release.
This issue is occurring only in PPPoE connection, dynamic ip configuration works fine. I'm now using my old archer c6.
And this is my last tp link purchase. My last deco m4 died too without showing any error.

TP Link should focus on releasing few hw version and focus on stability of the firmware. Totally let down experience.

Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. However, based on the information provided so far, it's hard for us to confirm the root cause of the push notification issue. I have escalated your case to the technical team, and they will contact you via email. If you are willing to continue troubleshooting, please provide the following information after receiving the email for further analysis.
  1. The Deco device log files.
  2. After your iPhone connects to the Deco network, do all apps on the iPhone receive push notifications, but the phone does not? Or do neither the app nor the phone receive them? For example, in the Deco app, under the Network tab > the Message icon in the top-right corner, you can see the push notifications received within the Deco app.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

As far as i know push notification comes from apple. App can’t provide push notification directly to iPhone. It send notifications to apple and then apple pushes those to iPhone.

I have two iPhone at home. I use iPhone 16 pro and my mother uses iPhone 7 Plus.

Neither received any notification. But when i open the app i get those notification on both phone. No calls come in as iPhone can’t show notification as it is being blocked by the router.

I have old TP link archer c6 i am using it now.  And i can receive notification without any issues.

“In the Deco app, under the Network tab > the Message icon in the top-right corner, you can see the push notifications received within the Deco app.”

Yes i can see if i open the app. But not on notification list.

If i call using my mother’s WhatsApp to my WhatsApp the call doesn’t come in. I can see the missed call when i open WhatsApp on my phone.

I have tested:

  1. Archer c6 as main router (WiFi ssid off)
  2. Then i connected deco x50 with a lan cable (dynamic ip connection).
  3. Connected my phone to deco WiFi.
  4. Push notification works fine this way.

I have claimed warranty yesterday and returned deco x50. They said they will contact me after inspecting.

I only have the log now.  I will provide that if i receive mail from technical team.

Still stuck on beta after all this time? The development pace here is effectively non-existent. We didn't buy a long-term science experiment; we bought a router. If your team is truly incapable of delivering a stable firmware, perhaps it’s time to stop stalling and officially open-source the code so the OpenWrt community can actually get the job done.
