New Release Wi-Fi Routers Support WireGuard VPN Now
VPNs have grown a great deal over the past few years, and as a result, we have seen an increase in demand for alternative VPN options on TP-Link routers. WireGuard VPN could be one of the most popular VPNs that we are seeing in the public community and forums. We are excited to announce here that we do have some router models that support or plan to support WireGuard VPN feature, and there will be more in the near future.

Moderator Note:
1. WireGuard VPN availability may vary by region, even for the same model. Please check your local website for details.
2. The list above may not include all models and hardware versions. It is recommended to keep watching the firmware releases for your router, as WireGuard VPN and any new features will be noted in the patch notes if/when added to your version.
3. If you're installing a pre-release or beta version of firmware from the official threads, please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding!
4. For customized models and hardware for the Japanese market, WireGuard VPN will not be available in specific dialing modes like V6Plus and DS-Lite.
For other models that are not listed above, there is currently no definitive information if WireGuard VPN would be possible or be available in the future, and we don't have any specific details that I can share around. It's suggested to keep an eye on the official website or on the router web GUI/Tether app for any new updates.
Welcome to leave your comment below if you want to see your router to be added to the supported list. Be sure to include the specific model number and hardware version when requesting. Thank you very much.

It would be awesome if you add support for WireGuard on Archer AX53_V1.
I am currently using OpenVPN on this router, but it is (expectedly) a bit slow.
WireGuard would be a huge improvement for my use case, as it is way faster on the same hardware.
I can beta-test the firmware if it eventually becomes available.
Hi,
You can download a beta test firmware with WireGuard from here https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/593722 .
As you say, WireGuard is way faster. With OpenVPN the AX53 V1 reaches only about 17 Mbps, while with WireGuard the speed goes above 100 Mbps. (both times measured when the AX53 V1 was acting as server)

Hello, as you can see, the original post of this thread did not list the Archer AX95 as planned. We community don't have related information regarding the support of WireGuard VPN and DoH for the AX95.

Hi, we don't have advanced notice whether AX58 V1 will support WireGuard VPN or not, please pay attention to any new firmware release for AX58 V1, we will also update the original post once there is any update.
Regarding the AX58 V2, upon checking, it has supported WireGuard VPN and EasyMesh ethernet backhaul compared with AX58 V1.

@Decapoda Heh. Looking at TP-Link brand as a whole, it has always been disappointing. I tried reverse engineer their switches and found out the salted hashes from the TCP calls to a couple of my CCTVs were static and non dynamic (changes every so often or randomized). Best way to get bang of your buck with most streamlined updates is always moving on to Asus products instead or going all OpenWRT and exploiting those CVE vulnerabilities, for something as easy as getting WireGuard to be supported. It is afterall a unix based system.
