Solution Deco PX50 Is Not Using Powerline Backhaul to Build up the Mesh Network
Solution Deco PX50 Is Not Using Powerline Backhaul to Build up the Mesh Network
This Article Applied to:
Deco PX50_V1_1.0.3
Issue Description:
After adding all Deco PX50s into the Mesh Network, some users might find that they are only connected via 2.4/5GHz, but without Powerline Backhaul on the Deco APP.
Troubleshooting Suggestions:
1. Please ensure Deco PX50 has been set as the main Deco and there are at least two Deco PX50 in the Mesh Network.
2. Confirm the whole house is under the same service panel or power grid.
- It can be assured that you have used our Homeplug AV power adapters or Deco P9 kit before.
3. Turn off the nearby high-power home appliances temporarily.>>How to Improve Powerline Backhaul Quality
4. Try to put a satellite PX50 next to the main PX50 and check whether they could create Powerline Backhaul on the Deco APP.
Solution:
The official firmware has fixed this issue already and please make sure your Deco is up-to-date.

@David-TP I’ve just bought this mesh system and I’m having the same issue, updated to the latest firmware and getting no plc symbol on the app.

The beta firmware update seems to have fixed it but to see for how long I will need to wait and see.
Thanks

@David-TP The PX50 system (main and 2 PX50 satellites) is online and it shows the PLC+WiFi text on the two PX50 satellites. However, they still communicate with the main router using the WiFi and not the PLC connection . The result: I still have the same speed on both areas as when I had the old Google Mesh system (WiFi only) + US$300.00 less on my pocket. Please assist.

@Pulpo72 Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
the firmware 1.0.4 and the newer 1.2.1 are to solve the issue that Powerline Backhaul does not take effect on PX50. In other words, only WiFi backhaul shows up on the Deco APP. Yours are different. The Powerline Backhaul did show up and there is Powerline Backhaul between Deco PX50s.
It is unable to determine whether Powerline Backhaul or WiFi Backhaul has higher priority based on the limited APP status. However, the clear issue is that the internet speed from satellite Deco PX50 units is slow and less than expected.
Could you two give some details on how much speed you could get from the satellite PX50? How about their locations and distance, same floors or different floors? So I could use this information to argue with the engineers and request a beta firmware to verify the initial presumption that the WiFi Backhaul might override Powerline Backhaul.
@Pulpo72 I noticed you mentioned using TL-PA7010kit before. May I know how much speed you could get from the powerline unit?
Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP On the main unit: 414D/497U. On the second unit called Dormitorio (nearest one to the main DECO): 104.0D/61.9U. On the far one called Habitación Principal, where my office is located: 60.5D/68.8U. (D= download and U = upload). I have 500Mps sync on my home. The test is, of course, to the ISP server using OOkla app. I can say that, if you are near the main unit, the improvement with the old mesh system is notorious.

Hello @David-TP , Here my information.
I noticed you mentioned using TL-PA7010kit before. May I know how much speed you could get from the powerline unit?
- With that KIT, the average bandwith was 160~200Mb (SpeedTest o Fast.com), I have a 300Mb Internet service.
How much speed you could get from the individual satellite PX50 unit?
I have saw 3 scenarios.
After reboot.
- Main deco 330Mb / Satellite1=100~200Mb / Satellite2=:100~200Mb
Regular usage in most degradated escenario
- Main deco 330Mb / Satellite1=40~60Mb / Satellite2=:5~12Mb
Regular usage, few minutes with self-restoration
- Main deco 330Mb / Satellite1=150~180Mb / Satellite2=:80~160Mb
How about their location and distance? Are they installed on the same floor or on different floors?
- I have a 3 floor house, I Install a DECO on each floor. Each DECO are 15~20 step away between each one. (I can send a Video if you want.)
This behavior don’t allow me to have a Microsoft Teams, RTSP Video or VoIP session.

Deco PX50(EU) firmware 1.2.1 build 20230920
Rarely if ever uses powerline.
The main reason I got this set is to get through all the concrete and rebar.

I have the same issue or at least I think I have. I just installed three PX50's as an upgrade from my M9's because the internet speed at the far end of my house was too slow, but if anything it's running slower now. I have updated the firmware. Is it possible to check whether powerline backhaul is active?
Best regards,

Hi, you could check the signal source type on the satellite PX50:
If you can see the PLC icon, the Powerline Backhaul should be active.
Best regards.

@David-TP, thanks. It didn't show but after I restarted the Decos, it did. It doesn't show for my main deco, however ... Is that supposed to be the case?
Best regards,
Jesper
