Tapo c212 motion tracking Blurry video
@TP-Link @Solla-topee @Wayne-TP i have installed Tapo c212 and noticed that when the camera is still (motion tracking off) it records video properly and video quality is great but if motion tracking is on, when it tracks any person or object it creates pixelation/Articfacts in the video which makes everything blurry and even from very close to the camera you can't recognise a person or an object.

Note- After tracking stops video again looks good, only during camera rotation it looks blurry.

I tried 2k resolution with highest frame rate (Also tried other fps n resolution settings) but it's always the same. This is very annoying as you can't see any moving object/person properly.
Note- I did some research and found this issue exists in other models of Tapo camera as well
Please fix this issue if possible by firmware update, i think it can be fixed by calibrating camera focus speed or Motor rotation speed.
In my other security camera from other brands i didn't face this issue. They maintain consistency in both still video and during motion tracking recording.

@echamakiotis @SillyPari guys i am fed up with Tapo support team. They simply argue over one irrelevant thing which is encoder used in camera. They say H.264 video has blurness but H.265 has no blurring/pixelation issue. But in reality encoder has nothing to do with blurness. It's an issue with bitrate n video processing.
My old H.264 cp plus camera has no pixelation issue which is ⅓ the price of tapo, still works better.
I bought Tapo c212 and as you can check in indian official site that it supports H.265 encoder and upto 30 fps but in reality it supports only H.264 and max 25 fps.
The engineer assigned to my case told me that in india Tapo c212 supports only H.264 only
Now you tell me who's fault is this?
I have no hope they will ever fix their issue or even acknowledge their mistakes. They are simply covering their mistakes.
Finally i sold my camera to one of my relatives because he doesn't require motion tracking so, he won't have this issue...
I would request you guys not to buy Tapo ever in future.
I have also removed Tapo cameras from my Recommendation list. I ain't buying anything in future. I have ordered Xiaomi 360 2k camera. Now i can save videos to my pc via NAS

same for me.
I just purchase a C212 yesteday and i was very happy at start (installation in no time, very easy to use, RTSP ...) until i play some raw recordings (in max quality 2k/30fps).
It look horrible with a lot of macroblocks like an old mpeg video file in 480p from 20 years ago !
All this videos are recorded at an average of 900/1000 kbps bitrate, it's incredibly too low for 2k even for 720p !
Please increase this value at least 3000 kbps if possible.
Better, add an option so that we can choose ourselves the value.
Unless the chip for encoding is too poor for that ?

Please go to the camera's Device Settings>Video & Display>Video Quality page to check which one you have selected.
Are you watching the video clips stored on the SD card or cloud server? Can you share a video showing the reported case?

my videos settings are 2K / 30ips.
I watch clips from SD Card and RTSP (stream1 : 2304x1296) but on 24" or 27" monitors and not only my small 6" phone.
I'm not comfortable with sharing personal videos and they wouldn't provide anything more than those in previous posts.
All is about bitrates of the recorded videos, they are variable and the overall is too low. Approximately :
for 720p : overall bitrate of only 500 kb/s.
for 1080p : overall bitrate of only 700 kb/s.
for 1296p : overall bitrate of only 1000 kb/s.
If the chip is capable of at least 1000 kb/s, why not leave it for 720p? The video would certainly be of better quality even at this lower resolution.
I think the choice was given to the smallest size rather than the quality of the video to save space on the SD Card or the Cloud.
I can understand that this is enough for most people who only watch on a small phone screen and do nothing more, but the videos cannot be used to recognize a face or read something when there is movement. They look horrible on large screens.
A good solution would be to add an option in the video quality settings to manually set the bitrate value for those who want quality and don't care about size.
I saw that other competitor applications had this option.
In particular, for a competing camera in the same price range, the default bitrate in 1296p (2k) is 2560 kb/s and can be set from 1024 kb/s up to 4096 kb/s.
This is 4 times more than for the C212!

I purchased the camera for the only reason that this had H.265 support mentioned on their Indian support site but when actually using it doesn't exist, what a scumbag move by TP-Link I would recommend everybody to never purchase TP-Link products based on their spec page, I'm thinking about filing a consumer court complaint

@RajibPaul the Tapo C212 in fact has H.265 and 30fps in my country, maybe hardware differences?

I think they decided to use the lowest bitrate for videos to save space on their cloud storage, which they want to sell as a subscription service to make more money, just like Apple and Adobe's bs ecosystems. Most people in India don't give a damn about bitrate and many aren't even aware that it exists, which is why the video quality is so śhit.
