Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.11

Hi,

I have turned on the alarm feature with the following settings in the Tapo App.

Baby cry detection: On

Alarm Type: Sound & Light

Alarm Sound: Siren

When the baby cries, I do get the notifications as expected, but I do not get any Alarm in my phone.

Can some explain what else needs to be done in order get the alarm in my phone, when the baby cries?

Thanks,

Hi,
When the Alarm feature is enabled, the camera will alarm or have the light flashing when detecting events rather than the phone alarm.
You can pay attention to whether the camera alarm when it detects events(baby cries).
Best Regards

@Solla-topee, Thank you for the reply.

I only get notifications, no alarm either in terms of light or sound from the camera at the moment.

Regardless, don't you think this is an useless feature the way it is currently designed?

What do you think the outcome would be, will the baby stop crying when the camera starts sounding alarm at 3am?

If the point is to inform the parents when the baby is crying, then it makes sense that the phone should sound alarm... especially if the parents are sleeping in the night. Does the feature designer in Tapo think parents would be looking for notifications while sleeping at 3am? If the app can send notifications, can it not send alarm or sound too... is it such a big feature update for company like Tapo? Who have so many products?

Now I have to start looking for another baby monitor that actually helps!

Thanks.

Hi,
The Alarm function on the Tapo Camera is not only for Baby Cry Detection but also for other Detection types. The typical usage scenario is that when the camera detects an intruder, it will alarm to scare off the intruder and alert the owner. The current scenario you reported is also reasonable, and I will forward it to the relevant department for evaluation.

For the situation where the camera detects a baby cry but does not alarm, can you send us the camera's Alarm page to have a check?

Best Regards
