Tapo C520WS, working fine for a week and now it disconnects from wifi after a few hours
Hi, the camera was working fine, now it's losing connection and blinking red after a few hours. It also appears as disconnected on the tapo app.
I have a tp link ax55 router and every other device (not that I have too many connected) works fine.
To quickly fix it I have to replug the power adapter, it will work for a few hours and then it will disconnect from wifi again.
I tried resetting twice, first deleting the device from the app and readding it and nothing, second time I presed the reset button on the camera for 10s for a factory reset. Issue is still there.
Tried changing channels setting on my router and nothing, I even tried the "IoT network" that wasn't being used on my router and still nothing. Everything just works for a few hours then goes offline.
Is there a solution for this, or is my device faulty?

Hi,
Typically, you can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot the offline issue.
What should I do if my Tapo smart device keeps losing connection or going Offline?
If the problem remains, please confirm the following information.
1. When the camera is working, please go to the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Device Info page, tap the Wi-Fi icon, and send me the RSSI value.
2. Ensure the router's 2.4G Wi-Fi name is different from the 5G. If they are the same, change the 2.4G or 5G Wi-Fi name for a try.
3. Try to enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone or enable the Wi-Fi on another router if you have one, factory reset the camera, reconfigure it, connect it to the new Wi-Fi network, and check if it will work.
4. When did you buy the camera?
Best Regards

@Solla-topee
I have the same problem, got my new TAPO C520 WS last 3 months and for the first month it worked perfect on the same spot where now I am unable to get it connected to the internet.
The Wired connection works perfect, but wireless keeps disconnecting and every time I have to climb up and disconnect power for a reboot to get it back online. This is ridiculous !!
I have other TAPO cameras such as TAPO C320WS and they work perfect. I have different SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and all my TAPO cameras are on 2.4ghz.
Let me give you the RSSI
C320WS -67 (Works fine) -- Connected to Xtender RE450
C320WS -79 (works fine) Connected to Xtender RE450
C320WS -55(works fine) Connected to Xtender RE300
C520WS -71 (does not work) Connected to Main Router C1200
Nothing has changed in the last couple of years on the network. The C520WS was working fine for more than a month and then the issue began. No firmware update pending.

Hi,
The signal strength of the Tapo C520WS is weak. If it's away from the router, can it be connected to a range extender's Wi-Fi to get better signal strength and then check if it will work fine?

@DIMITRIX my device fixed itself, and I'm still not sure what happened. I was about to return it, so I unplugged everything and started packaging it, but I decided to try one last time in another location. This time, I moved it to a spot further from the router than the first location—about 4 walls behind and 1 floor above (let's call this the 2nd spot). The device just worked, staying connected for nearly 2 days straight. I still have the device, and it is now located in another spot (let's call this the 3rd spot), which is still further from the router than the first location.
The 1st spot was in direct line of sight of the router, about 6 meters away (with an RSSI of around -25). Connection dropping in less than an hour.
The 2nd spot was 1 floor above the router, on the opposite side of the house (with an RSSI of around -59). Stable connection.
The 3rd spot (where it is now) is on the same floor but in another room, with 3 walls between the router and the camera (with an RSSI of around -53), and it has been working without dropping the connection ever since.
Btw, when I first moved the device to the 2nd spot to try it one last time, I didn't factory reset it or anything; I just plugged it in to turn it on.
