Is it possible to have the white light come on when the camera detects a person, without the camera being in "starlight sensor" mode?

  @Big_Al_1960

Hi,
The "on" duration of the spotlight is related to the specific usage scenario. For example, if you manually turn on the spotlight icon on the camera's Live View page, the duration of the on state depends on the option you set on the camera's Spotlight Settings page, and the minimum time is 5 minutes.
On the Tapo C120's Device Settings > Video & Display> Night Vision page, if the Night Boost is enabled and the "on only when an event is detected" option is selected on the White Light Settings section, the camera will turn on the spotlight when it detects an event at night, and then turn off the spotlight 1 minute later after the event left from the camera's detection zone.
Best Regards

Hi,
1. If you want the spotlight/white light on the camera to turn on when detecting a person at night, please refer to Q5 in the following instructions. To achieve this usage scenario, you can enable the Night Boost feature, set Viewing Distance, and select 'on only when an event is detected' in the White Light Settings.
Starlight Night Vision: higher-quality image in low-light conditions

2. The starlight sensor is the hardware built into the camera, it works all the time.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee thank you for the reply, but that's not what I asked. Just to clarify, I do not want to use the starlight sensor or switch on night boost because it does not suit my needs.

Hi,
The Tapo C120 does not have a feature to disable the starlight sensor. Could you please describe the specific usage scenario you have in mind and your reasons for wanting to avoid using the starlight sensor? I will then check if the Tapo C120 can meet your requirements.
Best regards

  @Solla-topee I don't specifically want to turn off the starlight sensor; the terms used and the description in the app are confusing to me. What I really want to do is reduce the amount of time the light is on after a person is detected to 1 or 2 minutes. The minimum available at the moment is 5 minutes. Thank you for your interest.
