Model: Tapo C210
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

Yesterday morning my Tapo C210 camera did a update and after a reboot I lost the live stream that has been working fine till then.

I use a local host wifi network with 3 cameras on it and have 2 new cameras to add to the network. I have another C210 and a C420 solar camera to setup and as the 1st ç210 was under testing I am more than upset that this has happened. I spent a lot of money on these Tapo cameras only to find out that I may have to trash them and buy a different brand altogether. My internet ISP is TPG iiNet so I was staying with my ISP brand.

The update has stuffed up my security monitoring and as far as I'm concerned the Tapo cameras are not true security monitoring cameras in the true sense of the word.

I installed the network analyser app and for some reason I cannot ping the cameras ip address on the network even though the camera still works sort of *NOW*.

Is the camera still working as it should?

I'm not getting any notifications from it now.

So what happened TP LINK?

Something has changed with your software that you have put the limit on the streaming time. 5 minutes tap continue, 5 minutes tap continue just to view my cameras stream!

Before the update the stream was 24/7 with no drop outs.

I tried to do a network stream with VLC Player but because of no connection via IP address I can't do that.

My router is a Archer VX220 and a Wave line wifi extender just for the cameras. My Lenovo M10 tablet X 2 has has 1 task, camera streaming. The other 2 cameras on the network are running fine with 24/7 viewable streaming.

So the fix to this issue and everyone else having this issue is for you to do another update to address this as I'm sure many customers will be trashing their Tapo cameras

and buying another brand.

Hi,
To effectively manage cloud service resources, ensure a stable monitoring experience, and prevent potential issues such as network data overages or battery drain on battery-powered cameras, there is a certain time limit for continuous live streaming when streaming the camera via our cloud server. However, if you stream the camera on the local network (not through our cloud server), the limitation will disappear.

In your situation, it seems the local connection is not working, so the continue prompt appears. Usually, the local connection does not work is related to your network settings rather than the camera settings, as the camera is merely a network terminal that obtains its IP address from the router. It's recommended to check the following settings:

  1. Navigate to the camera's Device Settings > Device Info page to check what SSID it is connected to and what IP address it has been assigned. Ensure the camera is connected to your router's Wi-Fi.

  2. Verify your router settings, such as whether "AP isolation" is enabled or if there are any VLAN settings. Without these configurations, devices on the same network should be able to ping each other.

  3. Check if any other Routers or APs are using the same SSID as your router. If there are, the C210 may connect to a different router/AP, which could result in devices connected to your router being unable to ping it.

  4. Try moving the C210 closer to your router, reboot the camera, and after it reconnects to the Wi-Fi, check if you can ping its IP address on the tablet connected to your router's Wi-Fi.

Best Regards
