C260 Pan-Tilt range
C260 Pan-Tilt range
Hi, love the C260, but the tilt range seem to be very limited. Especially on the "up" direction. It's about 45° when it could easily support I think even 75°.
I am using it attached to the ceiling and inverted, which makes the "up" direction down, thus severly limiting looking "down".
Can you please allow the tilt to go beyond 45° please as I'd need as high of that number as possible (80°) in order to look down, under the camera when mounted upside-down from the ceiling.
Thank you for an otherwise amazing camera.

Yeah, I'm sure it's only a firmware limitation, and because of it, in my opinion, it's a very serious security hole; you can't cover a blind spot under a camera.
Both cameras are mounted almost in the same spot, on the left c225v2, on the right c260.

Here c260 view range, but here I forced the camera with my hand to go further, so as you see, it's definitely possible to do this by adjusting the firmware:

Hi,
As shown on the Tapo C260's Overview page on our official website, the Tapo C260 enjoys a 360° horizontal and 116° vertical pan and tilt range, allowing it to tilt up or down approximately 58°.
When installing the C260, we recommend first determining the area you will monitor and then installing the camera based on that area. If you require a camera to cover a larger area, we recommend considering other Tapo Pan & Tilt camera models (https://www.tapo.com/smart-home/home-security/?filterby=6691&page=1).
Regarding the feature request for a wider tilt range on the Tapo C260, I'll log it and forward it to the relevant department for evaluation.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee , thank you, you suggested considering Pan and Tilt models, I thought the C260 was a p&t model.
I used to work for SONY, GM, wrote both firmware and app code for radar actuators, and other embedded devices. Since the initialization on the C260 probes the entire range (and is way above the current max tilt range), the limits are definitely "artificial" and probably either in firmware (which might inherited settings from other products) or in the app.
I'm simply requesting a - possibly - small change to make this amazing hardware compatible with our nursery. As others noted, the blind spot due to the software limited range is really debilitating and makes this otherwise amazing camera useless and a risk. I really would like to keep my C260 and buy more, but at the moment it's difficult to justify.

@Solla-topee , thank you! It would make an already great camera even better and suitable for home security / nurseries.

Also, I'm fully aware that the reason for maxing out at this low angle is probably due to the infrared illumination getting obscured (the IR LEDs go inside the dome), but I think it is still a valuable feature during the day. The camera definitely can do more (and the IR gets hidden):

It is still working perfectly fine with night mode on in a completely dark environment. IR LEDs are still working well; it's the max tilt without hiding them.
Adjusted tilt with hand:

Sensor is not strong enough and other camera is off for testing so it's not illuminating.
Just with that tilt c260 IR LEDs are still working well in pitch black environment.

@SugarBaby , thanks for confirming!
@Solla-topee , that should give you enough clout / momentum to get the engineers implementing it. :-)
My return window is closing in a week and I'd love to change my review on Amazon to 5 stars.
