Model: Tapo D235
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 250926 Rel.64362n

When the Tapo D235 v1 EU doorbell detects an event, e.g., a person or animal, and I click on the notification, playback from the MicroSD card freezes for about 10 minutes and it is not possible to view any recordings at all. During this time, live playback works correctly for a moment, then freezes for about 10 seconds, after which it returns to normal, but playback from the MicroSD card still does not work. The doorbell is connected to a constant power supply via an 11.5V/0.8A transformer. The MicroSD card is: Kingston Canvas Select Plus 128GB MicroSDXC I C10 U1 V10 A1. RSSI of the doorbell with an access point at -52dBm, QoS priority on the router set only for this doorbell. There are no problems with live playback or recordings, the settings load correctly, there are no problems with calls even when away from home, it rings phones correctly and the call quality is very good. The problem only occurs after an event is detected and after clicking on the notification right away - playback from the card does not load at all, even after resetting the application (the same problem occurs on Android), only one person is trying to play the recording at that time, there is no situation where two people are trying to connect at the same time, and after waiting 10 minutes, everything returns to normal and recordings can be played normally. While the doorbell is frozen, everything was recorded normally and the recordings are visible. My phone model is iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 26.1, the doorbell firmware is 1.2.1 Build 250926 Rel.64362n, the iOS app version is 3.15.103, the access point is Tp-Link EAP110 Omada with firmware version 5.1.3 Build 20250709 Rel. 67038(4555) 2.4ghz network, speedtest average 40Mbps download and upload on the phone, but the internet should not be a problem as the issue only occurs after an event is detected. Additionally, the day before, in the playback option, after about a day, the event disappeared when someone rang the doorbell, the event marker disappeared from the timeline, and the moment appears as a recording but cannot be played back, the image is frozen without sound only at that moment. I formatted the MicroSD card twice and factory reset doorbell but issue still occurs.

I turned off notifications, walked to the doorbell then opened app > doorbell > playback and it's not loading (picture). After 30 seconds of loading picture shows up but there is no timeline. My friend with exact same doorbell dont have this issue.

  @whineytable

Hi,
Please confirm the following information about the reported phenomenon.

  1. With the notification feature enabled, when you go to the camera's Live View > Playback & Download > Playback > SD card page, are the video and the timeline loaded properly? With the notification feature disabled, when you go to the SD page, will the video and timeline fail to load?

  2. On the camera's Playback > SD card page, would you please send us screenshots showing that the detected events appeared and disappeared when 'someone rings the doorbell' after one day?

Best Regards

1. I tried both. It does not matter if i have notification feature enabled or disabled. If event is detected playback feature is not loading at all for about 10 minutes and at that time doorbell is being unresponsive but after couple of seconds i can watch live view but still not playback from SD Card. When there is no event at the moment I can watch playback with no issue at all. After about 10 minutes when playback become available again I can watch previous events.

2. I don't really understand what i should send to you. At this moment there is no events at that time. Two days ago when someone rang the doorbell app showed event perfectly but after one day it disappeared and I can't watch this footage no more because: it does not show on timeline, not showing on event list and footage is frozen (still image) with no sound. However it does show on timeline that there is some recording (dark blue color on timeline).

I changed the card to brand new Samsung PRO Endurance microSD 128 GB microSDXC Class10 / U3 / V30 SDHC, UHS-I and the problem persists.

I have multiple Tapo cameras and they don't have that problem and work perfectly.
