Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some troubleshooting help with my Tapo C520WS.

I’m experiencing a consistent 2 to 3-second delay on both the live stream and recordings when viewing through my EZVIZ NVR. Interestingly, the feed is near-instant and works perfectly when viewing directly through the Tapo App.

My Setup:

• Camera: Tapo C520WS (Firmware is up to date).

• NVR: EZVIZ [CS- X5S - R100-4W].

• Connection: Onvif protocol.

• Network: Both are on the same local network (NVR is hardwired).

What I’ve noticed:

1. The lag is strictly on the NVR side.

2. If I move in front of the camera, the Tapo app shows it immediately, but the NVR monitor lags significantly behind.

3. Lowering the resolution in the Tapo app doesn't seem to eliminate the NVR latency.

Questions:

• Are there specific Onvif settings (like Encoding or Bitrate type) that I should adjust to make the stream more "NVR-friendly"?

• Does the C520WS require a specific i-Frame interval or H.264/H.265 setting to sync better with third-party NVRs?

• Has anyone else dealt with lag specifically between Tapo and EZVIZ hardware?

Any advice on how to reduce this latency would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
The Tapo C520WS does not have specific settings/requirements to sync better with third-party NVRs. If you are streaming the camera at a high-resolution stream (stream 1) on the EZVIZ NVR, you may switch to a low-resolution stream (stream 2) to see if that helps.

You can refer to the instructions below to stream the camera with a different third-party app (such as Agent DVR) to see if the same phenomenon persists or occurs only on the EZVIZ NVR.
How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol

Hi,
Thanks for the update. Since the Tapo C520WS also works fine in the Tapo app, it indicates that its settings should be correct.
It's recommended to follow the steps in this post to see if that helps. You may also press and hold the reset button on the C520WS for 10 seconds to perform a factory reset, then reconfigure it in the Tapo app, establish the ONVIF stream with the ezviz NVR, and check if that helps.
Best Regards
