Firmware Version: 1.2.1

1. Time is 6:44 Pm

2. I selected Smart Mode in Night Mode Settings

3. Turn off outdoor lights, everything is Dark

4. Infrared mode turns on automatically (So far so good)

5. Went outside motion detected (So far so good)

6. Spotlight, LED does not turn on automatically (My problem)

7. Records it in infrared mode

8. It should turn on the spotlight and record it in Full-Color Mode, but it is not happening.

 

I have rebooted the CAM, and it does not fix it

I had the same issue. The Smart Mode hadn’t worked at all. But after I changed some settings in the Alarm, which had been turned off, it suddenly started to work.

I think something about the Alarm was interfering with the Smart Mode.

 

I don’t know if it will work in your case, but I think it’s worth a try before you perform a factory reset.

@Damngflo 
You can also check if the Motion Tracking/Auto Tracking feature on the camera's Device Settings>Detection page is turned on. If so, turn it off for a try.

  @Solla-topee Motion camera tracking is turned off, turning it on does not work either. Alarm is also turned off.

 

What ever the case, there is a problem. It should work as is, and its not working.

  @destar Ok messing with the alarm on and off seems to work... but I don't know how it will function.. looks random

  @Damngflo 

Hi,
Do you mean the spotlight turns on automatically when the camera detects events in the Night mode? If so, you can enjoy your device now.
If not, please help check if you can turn on and off the spotlight manually on the Tapo app> camera's Live View page.
