Hey Everyone,

We are excited to announce that in the upcoming weeks, starting with Deco M5 and Deco M9 Plus, an increasing number of HomeCare models will receive new firmware updates that introduce advanced parental control features. This update marks a major shift from HomeCare Protection to an Enhanced Version of Parental Control and Network Security service kit. Rest assured that the firmware update not only retains all legacy features from the HomeCare Protection service at no cost but also introduces innovative functionalities from our Advanced Parental Control Subscription.

The Deco M5 was the first of these models to receive the upgraded controls earlier this year. You can find the original thread here: Deco M5_1.9.0 Newly Introduced Advanced Parental Control Features

Applicable Models:

Deco M5 (V1/V2/V3/V3.2)

Deco M9 Plus (V1/V2/V2.2)

Deco W3600 (V1/V1.2/V2)

Deco X20 (V1/V1.2/V2)

Deco X25 (V1/V2)

Deco X60 (V1/V2)

The Following Chart Provides a Concise Comparison and Overview of the New Service Kit versus the Previous Version:

Update Tips:

Q&A

Q: Will features that were previously free now require a subscription after the firmware upgrade?

A: No. After the firmware upgrade, the Free Basic Parental Control service kit saves all the original features of HomeCare Protection.

Q: Will I lose parental control configurations and history records?

A: We will make every effort to retain and migrate user usage records and configurations as thoroughly as possible. However, due to potential inconsistencies with the old HomeCare database, some settings may need to be reconfigured. Also, since the original firmware utilized less Usage Data for Parental Control Statistics, the Insight History and Traffic Hours might take some time to gather enough data before they can be accurately displayed after the firmware upgrade.

Your feedback on this new update is greatly appreciated!

@Ryan I have a BE63 that has firmware 1.1.7 Build 20250324 Rel 32980 that is Main. I have 3 X20 with HVIN Deco X20V2. The Deco App shows they are at 1.3.0 Build 20250912 Rel 56370. I'm not sure when the X20 firmware was updated.

For the last few weeks we've been having problems with several of our devices randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. They include Samsung S24 and S24+ phones, a Samsung A9 tablet, and a Harmony hub. Some times, they will drop then immediately try to reconnect several times in a row. Sometimes they will show there is no internet and then we have to manually reconnect them. When they are connected, the signal strength is Medium or Strong so it doesn't seem to be a lack of signal.

From your list below, X20 V2 should be running Build 20250925, not 20250912. I have autoupdate turned on but I manually tried to update and it says I have the most recent firmware. The X20 support page shows the most recent X20 V2 firmware is a much older Deco X20(US)_V2_1.2.5 Build 20240720.

Can you clarify what firmware I should have? Do you have any insight into recent problems with disconnecting devices as I described above?

  @RSCNJ

Thanks for sharing your experience after the update on your BE63, I'll pass the feedback to our teams. In the meantime, have you tried rebooting your Deco Mesh System to see if the symptoms clear up?

The firmware builds listed in the original post may or may not have already been released. To my understanding, once the listed builds (including Build 20250925 for your X20 V2) are made available, they should contain the features in this update.

Unfortunately, I do not have any additional insights to share regarding the firmware development process. However, if you can wait a little longer, more information or the newer build should become available. I'm wondering if that particular build may be "baking" for a bit longer to ensure readiness.

@Ryan have X60 AX3000 v2.6. Updated firmware to current release 1.6.1 Build 20250912 Rel 53642 about a week ago. I have had nothing but headaches since. The system won't retain internet connectivity for more than 24 hours before going offline. I have to reset the entire mesh network and recreate network to bring it back up, a major PIA. I have had this system for almost three years and NEVER had a problem, solid as a rock, and now nothing but problems. My understanding from the tech tips is that I cannot go back to the previous stable version. Very DISAPPOINTED in TPLINK! Configuration ISP->Arris SBG10 bridge mode/cable modem->X60 (router mode,Ethernet backhaul)
