Beta Software Firmware 1.4.0 for Deco XE75/XE5300/XE75 Pro V2/V3 Adds Wi-Fi Access Control, WireGuard VPN & More!

We’re pleased to invite members of our community to experience early access to beta firmware for the Deco models listed below.
This firmware brings a multitude of significant enhancements, including Firmware Auto Update, WireGuard VPN, Fixed WAN Port, Captive Portal for Guest Network, and more!

Firmware Features and Enhancements:
- Added Camera Security Feature.
- Added Whitelist/ Wi-Fi Access Control with support for both Allow List and Block List.
- Introduced Captive Portal for Guest Network.
- Added support for Firmware Auto Update.
- Introduced ECO Mode 1.0 to save power.
- Support for WireGuard VPN added.
- Support added for Integrated third-party VPN services.
- Added support for limiting client speeds.
- Added the ability to assign a specific port as the WAN port.
- Optimized client type recognition.
- Added support for managing new Kasa and Tapo product categories (including light strips, multi-port outlets, etc.)
- Added Wi-Fi Network Mode function to enhance the overall performance of the 2.4 GHz band
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed the issue where Samsung devices could connect to the Deco WiFi but had near-zero network speeds.

Yes, in a mixed network with XE75 Pro V2 (on the new beta) and S7 units, disabling 2.4 GHz backhaul should still allow everything to work, primarily via 5 GHz (or wired Ethernet backhaul).
How It Handles Mixed Models
TP-Link Deco systems are designed to mix different models. The main Deco (ideally a V2 unit) sets the overall capabilities, and the system falls back to what all units support.
- When you disable 2.4 GHz backhaul on the beta:
- Your XE75 Pro V2 nodes will stop using 2.4 GHz for backhaul and shift to 5 GHz (or 6 GHz where available).
- The S7 nodes (which don't have this option) will continue operating normally. They are dual-band and fully support 5 GHz backhaul.
- The mesh will automatically prioritize stronger/faster links — so the S7s should connect and function fine over 5 GHz wireless backhaul to the rest of the network.
What to Expect
- The S7s will not break or lose connectivity.
- Client devices (phones, IoT, etc.) will still connect normally across bands. The setting mainly affects node-to-node backhaul, not client access.
- The "disable 2.4 GHz backhaul" option may disappear from the app once the S7s are added (for compatibility reasons), or it may remain but apply only where supported.
- Performance is usually better this way anyway — 5 GHz backhaul is faster and less congested than 2.4 GHz.
Tips
- Keep a XE75 Pro V2 as the main Deco for best feature support.
- Add the S7s and monitor the app — it shows each node's connection type and signal strength.
- Wired Ethernet backhaul (if possible) bypasses all wireless backhaul concerns.
This is normal behavior for mixed Deco networks. The system is quite flexible in practice. Test it out and you should be good. Let me know if you notice anything odd after mixing them!

Hi,
If you disable the 2.4 GHz backhaul on the Deco XE75 by selecting Stable Mode on the Wi-Fi Network Mode page, after the Deco S7 joins the Deco network, the Wi-Fi Network Mode option will disappear, and the Deco nodes in the existing Deco network can connect via both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi backhaul.

@Solla-topee Thanks for the reply. So, at the moment, I run the alternative (old) beta for 2.4Ghz stability, which sets the channel width to 20Mhz on 2.4ghz. My units are completely unusable otherwise. I have a mix of xe75 pro and s7 pro, where xe75 iare my master units. I suspect the stability fix in my case comes mostly from the 20mhz fix in the old beta, rather than the default 40mhz 2.4ghz channels, which even the new beta has.
So, just so I understand correctly. If I keep my s7's, the new 'stable network' option will be useless, as 1, it will turn itself back on to allow the s7's to work, and 2 (main fault), it will be stuck in 40Mhz mode as there is still no option to change this.
Just want to be sure I understand that correctly, as, until those issues are resolved, I cannot update from the old beta support gave me, which has much more useful 20MHz channels on 2.4Ghz.

I did try an update in the past from this a couple of times, but each time it regressed the 20MHz fix, and my network became unstable, and I had to contact support again for this version. I've had a couple versions of this version with this fix over the last year or so since I bought them

Have you tried the 1.4.0 beta and had the same issue with it regressing the 20MHz fix? If you haven't tried the new beta would you? Just trying to see if it fixes your issue and if it doesn't they need to figure out a permanent fix for it,
