Tuesday
Model: Deco XE5300
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.4.5 Build 20241129 Rel. 44718

I currenlty have the Deco Mesh XE5300 and I recently moved to a new home down the street from my old location. I had to setup a new account at the new residence as I needed internet from both locations until we officially moved out. Spectrum provided me with a new modem and I declined their router as I wanted to use my XE5300. I left a basic router at the old residence and set up the XE5300 at the new location. Everything booted up and all my smart devices connected. My issue is not with the connection is with the location services. Whenever I'm at the new house, connected with the wifi my location services on my phone shows me located at my old house. To make sure it's the wifi, I would disconnect and from my cellular connection it would display my correct location.

Steps I've tried to fix the situation:

  1. Rebooted the modem and the router by unplugging and waited 5 minutes
  2. Rebooted the system through the deco app
  3. Rebooted the system through the spectrum app
  4. Reset the system and created a new Network Name
  5. Waited a week for it to recalibrate

Nothing has worked and TPLink Customer Service has no idea.

Thank you

Re:Location Services still shows old location
Yesterday
Quick update, it’s still showing different locations. At first I thought it was when I would switch satellites. Then I noticed no matter which satellite I was connected to my location would jump back and forth. This is getting a little annoying and only reason why is because of the middle of the night, 3am notifications I would get saying my daughter left home but she’s asleep in her bed. Please any help would be greatly appreciated

@Kidkamel Probably the easiest way is to find out how long the DHCP lease is for both accounts, disconnect both routers for said time/power them off, then reconnect them/power them on.  If you did not take that long (when you moved over) and both houses are on the same subnet, Spectrum doesn't recognize that the router has moved locations.  (The lease continues as if the router did not move.

EDIT:  ***On cell phones especially if you set up WiFi calling you'll need to change the E-911 address to the new address.***
