Hi!

I recently discovered a major issue (at least for me) with the new 1.4.3 firmware (updated via OTA).

I'm using an AX53 v1(EU) and an EX220 in EasyMesh mode via ethernet backhaul. AX53 as main router and EX220 as satellite. I was running pre-release firmware 1.3.1 provided in these forums without any problems until I updated to 1.4.3.

After the update the satellite router doesn't broadcast (mirror from main router) the Guest Network SSIDs. Before the update everything was fine, every SSID was mirrored correctly. Now I can't connect to the Guest SSIDs when close to the EX220 as I don't see them, moving close to AX53 main router I can see them and connect to them without any problem. I tried fully factory resetting both devices and setting them up from scratch but that did not solve the problem.

Is this a new feature implementation in firmware 1.4.3 or is it a bug?

Being able to connect to Guest networks is a must for me as I work with a lot of unsafe devices (I service mobile phones and laptops and some of them can have viruses) and I prefer to isolate them from my main network.

Is there any way to downgrade to 1.3.1 firmware? Or a beta firmware newer than 1.4.3 that fixes this?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue. AX53 v1 and C80 satellites. No other SSID except the Main one are passed to the satellites. Even IoT ssid’s are also not forwarded to satellites. To me this is a bug. It was working fine before release 1.4.3 😩

I hope it's a bug and not a new way of functioning. It's a major setback for me as I have plenty of smart devices (smart relays, temp sensors, security devices) on my main network that I'd rather not expose to other unsafe devices involved in my work. I was afraid of doing the update as everything was functioning as it should, but I don't like having pre-release, beta software on devices like my routers. Guess I made a really bad choice :(

Hope it gets solved. It definitely cannot be a new way of functioning. Only reason for the upgrade for me was the ethernet backhaul mesh function which is working well.

That was available in the 1.3.1 pre-release version too, worked flawlessly for me. The odd thing is that I have that firmware on my laptop but unable to downgrade :(

Might have missed that.

Anyway, check post number 1.

You cannot downgrade once you have upgraded to 1.4.3

Yeah, I saw. That is why this situation is odd, as I still have the firmware file but can't do nothing with it :(

As I see from earlier replies, for the serious stuff  as ours there is no official reply for a while.

As far as I can confirm, this is not the case. What I learned is that EasyMesh (with generic firmware, such as on Archer AX53) only extends the main network, and it doesn't extend the Guest Network or the IoT Network.

Are you certain that the guest network can be extended when running the pre-release 1.3.1 version? Is the one provided in this thread?

BTW, what is the firmware version of the EX220? This model targets the Internet Providers, so I'm not sure whether the customized firmware may differ from those made generic when using EasyMesh technology.

Yes, I'm 100% sure! I'm an IT professional (for 14 years now) so I pretty much know what I'm doing/talking. Yes, I know the EX220 is targeted for ISPs as I got that one from my ISP.

The firmware on the EX220 is untouched, never been updated as I use it only satellite mode. With the factory firmware on the AX53 all networks were extended. I needed mesh ethernet backhaul so I updated to pre-release 1.3.1, ALL NETWORKS were extended. A couple of days ago I saw that an official OTA update is available so I updated and since then only main networks are extended. If this is the way it's supposed to be then I have to say goodbye to TP-Link as this is unacceptable and doesn't have any logic in it.
