Model: Tapo C222
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1

Hi, the latest firmware seem to use hevc h265 for the 2560x1440 stream, and messing up with my ONVIF NVR setup, as it do not support h265.

stream url rtsp://192.168.120.182:554/stream2

[Rebroadcast Plugin]: Input #0, rtsp, from 'rtsp://ZZZZ:XXXX@192.168.120.182:554/stream1':

[Rebroadcast Plugin]:   Stream #0:1: Audio: pcm_alaw, 8000 Hz, mono, s16, 64 kb/s

The firmware release note make no metion about switching codes, the product description page also not updated.

How can I switch back to H264 with current firmware, and how can I downgrade the firmware if I cannot switch back to h264.

Thanks a lot!

  @Solla-topee I'm experiencing the same issue! The stream is now only using the H.265 codec. How can we revert back to H.264, or at least have the option to choose? My setup with Scrypted and ONVIF Manager is now broken, and I can't use anything other than the Tapo app, which is really inconvenient and disappointing!

I have the codec H.265 problem with my new TD25 doorbell. That codec is not supported.

  @Gentletom

Hi,
1. What's the hardware and firmware version of the TD25? Could you please send me(@Solla-topee) the doorbell's MAC address via a private message?

2. How do you confirm that TD25 uses codec H.265?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

I also have the same issue with the TD25 video doorbell and the only way I can get my NVR's live view and recording working is by transcoding the video back to H.264 on-the-fly. This is quite resource intensive and I'd like to be able to switch the video encoding directly from the camera to be H.264. The TP-Link documentation for the doorbell camera also mentions that the video encoding should be H.264.
https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/cloud-camera/td25/#specifications

To answer your questions from here:

1. Hardware version: 1.0, Firmware Version: 1.1.16
2. I use VLC to open a network stream and then view the 'Media Information' window. It shows the H.265 video codec and PCM ALAW audio codec being used.

If you can confirm there is a firmware fix for this issue, I will private message the MAC address for the device.

  @Solla-topee When will the new firmware be publicly available? I also have a C222 camera and want to use H.264 codec for the 2K stream
