Troubleshooting What can I do if the battery-powered cameras fail to pair with the Tapo H200?
This Article Applies to:
Tapo C420
Tapo C400
Tapo D230
Phenomenon Description:
The Tapo hub H200 is working fine, but an error message "Connection Failed" appears in the Tapo app when adding the above cameras to the hub.

Troubleshooting:
1. Ensure the camera/doorbell and hub have the same region code.
You can check the labels on the hub and camera for it. If they don’t have the same region code, they can’t work together. Please avoid purchasing the camera/doorbell and hub separately from different countries. We recommend buying a kit that includes both the camera/doorbell and the hub together.

2. Please uninstall the Tapo app on your phone and go to Google Play (Android phone) or App Store (iPhone) to download and install the latest Tapo app.
3. Check the LED on the Tapo H200, and ensure it has a solid green light, which means it’s configured successfully.
If your Tapo H200 is not configured successfully, refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot.

4. Check the LED on the battery-powered camera; if the LED is not flashing green and red, reset it first.
How to reset my Tapo camera?
5. Reboot the Tapo H200, move the camera close to the hub, and reconfigure the camera.
6. Place C420 and H200 in another location for configuration if the problem remains to avoid possible wireless interference in the original location.
Next Steps for Investigation

Hi,
1. Remove and re-insert the battery to reboot the doorbell to let its LED blink red and green.
2. If so, repeat Step 2-Step 6 in this post and check if it helps.
3. If the problem remains, you can contact the retailer or local support team to check if your camera is under warranty.

I have a similar same issue. My WIFI C420 cameras connect but will not update to show video and no recordings are saving to the Hub. The hard-wired powered cameras connect to Hub, I can see teh live stream and recorded videos fins (they have on board memory cards)
The WIFI cameras worked fine until a few months ago (I can't recall an 'event' that has triggered the fail). In fact they still 'work' in the snese that they are triggered by movement etc - I just can't view any live stream video and recording to Hub is no longer working.
I've reset everything, reconnected everything, checked for firmware version updates etc.
WIFI signal is good - all other devices - TAPO and others - connect fine to the modem.
Getting annoyed with it now! :-/

Hi,
The new firmware has been pushed to your hub. Please ensure it's online, and then update it via the Tapo app and check if this helps.

Hi,
What's your camera's model number, hardware, and firmware version?
What's the LED status on your camera? Do you mean you can control the camera on the local network, but it shows as offline in the Tapo app when you control it remotely?

I had the same problem, even after following all the advice here. After trying everything I could think of, as an IT consultant, I was preparing, reluctantly, to return the D230S1 package to the dealer - when I thought to uninstall and reinstall the Tapo software on my phone. After doing that, the doorbell paired up with the hub immediately without any further issues...!
