I have an XE70 Pro Mesh setup and am attempting to use Verizon FiOS IPv6 service. This used to work fine on my older ASUS-WRT router as it had extensive IPv6 settings and better DDNS support for multiple/custom providers (such as Hurricane Electric tunnelbroker).

Whenever I pick Dynamic IP, enable Prefix delegation, and then for Assigned Type select SLAAC + Stateless DHCP, I properly receive a LAN address prefix, but the router itself does not receive an IP. I've also tried DHCPv6 as well as SLAAC + RDNSS but that also doesn't work. Tests on test-ipv6.com or ipv6-test.com also fail because I have no IPv6 address detected.

When I check my computers, I only see local IPv6 addresses being assigned.

These settings work on ASUS-WRT routers:

  • Log in to your router dashboard and navigate to Advanced Settings > IPv6.
  • Set the Connection Type to Native. FiOS uses DHCPv6, so setting it to Native with Prefix Delegation allows Verizon to assign you a dynamic IPv6 prefix.
  • Ensure DHCP-PD is set to Enabled so your router can properly distribute IPv6 addresses to your local devices.
  • Set Auto Configuration Setting to Stateless (or Auto depending on your specific firmware version).
  • Set Enable Router Advertisement to Yes.

I think the problem is there's nowhere to Enable Router Advertisement on my Deco, and thats's why the connection is failing. I do get LAN prefixes assigned with the correct prefix, but the router itself is not getting its own IPv6 address, causing IPv6 traffic to not get forwarded onward.

I also tried setting up tunnelbroker to get an IPv6 connection this way, but there's a whole slew of missing settings there as well, plus I prefer not having a second ISP hop just to reach IPv6 addresses.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Below are the instructions to set up the IPv6 connection on the Deco.
How to Enable and Configure IPv6 on Your Deco

If you fail to set up the IPv6 connection, it's recommended to contact your ISP to confirm the configuration details, such as connection type, username, password, and so on.
Btw, is the main Deco connected to a Verizon FiOS modem?

Best Regards
