  @MannyF

I dont see any CPU utilisation issue with the earlier September 2nd beta builds on any of my routers here (i have all 3), but i still see some funkyness with DHCP with both versions.  But, since i dont use DHCP - i have servers for that elsewhere on my networks, im sticking with the Sept 2nd build.

However, i am seriously considering reverting to the Late January 1.1.1 beta which added the Stealth port fixes - although it had one noticeable bug (occasional slow web GUI access to the devices) functionally it was 100% stable with what i was using the routers for.

The whole 1.2.0 + line of firmwares for these routers seems troublesome, perhaps TP-Link should revisit the late 1.1.1 code and start adding the known good fixes one at a time again. ?

Dear @GRL@MannyF, @Adoril and other community members,

Thank you for your valuable feedback! I've removed the 0918 Beta firmware as you've reported it causes CPU spikes issue.

TP-Link will figure out the CPU spikes issue soon and update the Beta firmware to correct the original issue that Omada Router may wrongly report the clients status to the Omada Controller. For more details about the original issue, check this related post.

  @Fae

Good decision to remove the 0918 beta.

Hopefully your engineers can resolve it soon, i think everyone is hoping for a more successful 1.2.2 release in the near future

  @Fae

Thanks, It would seem for the best. I think i will downgrade to 1.1.1 for the time being as I've had a variety of minor issues with all releases 1.2.X. I will keep an eye on any future updates!

  @Adoril

When downgrading, do you need to reconnect wifi devices?

I'm not 100% sure i understand what you mean by reconnecting wifi devices. When changing the firmware, all devices lost connectivity during the 60ish seconds of downtime then reconnected automaticaly once the router was up and running again.

  @Adoril That is what I would expect, I thought I saw someone say they had to re-pair all their devices when going to the beta firmware.

  @Fae Yes would be nice to know when this will be fixed, seems to have been awhile now.

Is there any update on this, when an official release will be available? I have about 5 sites on that firmware version, but I am curious to know if there are anymore details of how this issue presents itself. I have not seen this issue on my sites with 1.2.1, but I do not have WiFi at them, only OMADA switches and Router. But maybe users have not reported the issue, I am not sure, but from what I can see in the clients no duplicates and ip's are being assigned.

I am deploying a few new sites, and would like to know best course of action, is 1.2.1 safe if not using WiFi or how does this issue present itself, what config makes this happen? or should I be using 1.1.1? I do not really want to use a Beta version.

Sorry that I haven't been informed of the date for the router firmware release yet, will actively update this post once new firmware is available for Omada router, welcome to subscribe!

Based on all the current feedback, the DHCP issue is more about the compatibility issue between the router's DHCP mechanism and some certain clients's non-standarad DHCP behavior (mainly IoT devices). If your Omada routers are deployed in a home environment, 1.1.1 might be more reliable than the 1.2.1 firmware. If your Omada routers are deployed in a enterprise scenario, 1.2.1 should be safe for use.
